Return to Planar Speaker Asylum

It is a great speaker, and pretty much "does it all".
It is efficient, low in coloration, and images well.
It's overall balance is a lot like the ET's, but not quite as rolled off.
Because of it's wide baffle, it has a big sound, like a Planar, but w/o the un natural image height of say a big Magnepan.
It looks like an overgrown Quad 988.
I also currently own Klipschorns, Klipsch Forte's, Klipsch CF 3's, 801's, Von Schweikert VR4JR's, and some others.
No one speaker will ever make me happy.
The one that came closest was the EV Interface D .... it's in the mini review link.
Follow Ups:
.....but you are apparently a mere motral like the rest up us and need to live with compromises. However I hope to cheat with a pair of stacked Eminents, a pair of used Genesis RS1b woofer towers, some arc welders, thick zip cord (none of that skinny zip cord stuff for me, maybe I'm a closet wire guy) and I'll have it all on the cheap!!! Not quite there yet.
Bruce had the right idea in some previous designs, get those ribbons as close together horizontally as possible!
Unfortunately, in stacked LFT 8's, the supporting frames makes it physically impossible to get the ribbons close enough to avoid comb filtering in the horizontal plane.
If it were me, and I was gonna do it, I would build me another frame, and VERTICALLY stack the midrange ribbons ?
You might have to go clear down to the floor, and simply side mount the woofers, so the array dont hit the ceiling ?
like a planar magnetic Acoustat 1+1 :).
Yep!
BTW those 1+1s are just going wild right now with some mods I did and now that I have them hooked up to a pair of 100 watt OTL monoblocks! Outrageously good :)!
Great!
You are like me, you like to play.
I just completely recapped some old Klipsch Forte's.
I just used Bennic caps, all poly, and a Mills resistor.
The Klipsch Forte has a certain "something about it" but it totally intolerant of ANY harshness before it.
I also have Klipschorns, and Von Schweikert Vortex screens ....
I would jump on a pair of 1+1's if local, or 2+2's also.
Get you some top OTL amps (like Joule Electra, Graff, Einstein, Tenor, Transcendent, or Silvaweld) you haven't heard how good music can be until you do. As good as my Sphinx is (and believe me it is good) there really is no competition. I am now itching to hitch up the Apogees.
