Time to install some REAL binding posts. Who ever thought up that original Maggie idea (insert tiny allen wrench, turn less than half-a-turn, wiggle wrench loose & repeat) must have a masochistic streak in him somewhere. The parts Magnepan uses are so cheap (read inferior) almost anything will be an improvement. Just think, no more fiddlin' around with that lil' wrench-stooped over trying to connect speaker wire. The first thing I did on my MMG's was get something like this (see link), take the terminals out of the plastic cup and put them in my Maggies. Now you needen't be as cheap, but you'd be hard pressed to find replacement posts of lesser quality than Magnepan uses.
Follow Ups:
actually the idea is sound if you take the internal wire into the connector tube and make direct contact with the stripped end speaker wire and crimp them together with the set screw.
Ricky M,
The supplied allen wrench has, at the end of the long leg, a ball end. You don't have to turn the wrench 1/2 turn and remove. After you loosen the set screw which should be less than 1/2 turn, insert the long leg into the set screw. The ball end lets the wrench act like a universal joint, you can loosen the set screw by holding the wrench tilted away from the speaker and you can turn full turns until the set screw falls out and you loose it.

I can't believe I'm saying this.
They aren't TOTAL junque. They CAN be dealt with. No they aren't Cardas. Yes they are cheap. But it can be done. Almost anything can be done with faith. Just stick your golden banana plug in there and (lightly) tighten down the setscrew. That wasn't so hard. was it?
Just lightly do the setscrew and figure that maybe you want to replace them.
Welcome to the wonderful world of screwing with Maggie. Some may say she is the mistress of evil. Others will say the goddess of delight.
But this relationship will not be boring, I can guarantee it.
When I first got my Maggies (MMG's), I had no bananas on hand and tightening those little set-screws onto speaker wire was maddening. I had wanted a "quick listen" before going to work the morning after they were delivered. Those stock terminals may have saved my job seeing as how they pissed me off and I went to work, swearing they'd be soon gone. I now now know a quick listen would have turned into much more =^]
