I am going to have my external crossovers separate from my 3.5s and sitting behind them on spiked cranite platforms.I have two spare VPI magic bricks. Is there any reason that a brick would be beneficial or otherwise, if placed on top?
Have anybody out there been "bricking" their crossovers?

Your Magic Bricks may or may not interact with the signal (it would be a bad thing if they did), but they would make nice weights to press some acoustic absorbant, such as Deflex rubber, against the sheet metal. You can use less expensive materials, such as sand in plastic bags.
Hey Al,I totally agree with the cheaper methods.
I recently saw some "cotton bags" with pull ties ( i think they were billed as bags for flour, etc.). Would this give give better performance than the plastic bags, due to cottons low dielectric?
Also, thanks a bunch for your help on the dedicated runs we discussed.
I wish I could have taped the electricians facial expressions!!
FWIW. Scoopable cat litter is nearly as dense and heavy as sand. Also readily available in 20 lb jugs for about $8. It is slightly coarser so doesnt migrate out of bags as easy. I used a jug each in the sand cavity in the bottom of my EPOS 15.2 speakers. Worked just fine. Of course, not used is preferable LOL!!!
Here is a link for many different sizes:
The dielectric properties only matter if the bag is next to something carrying the audio signal. The metal case of the crossover shields the signal from the dielectric properties of the bag. There are such things as Teflon sample bags for critical applications, but I've not been tempted to spend the money to find out if they are better.
DUH. For some reason I had it in my head that the plastic bags would be resting directly on components, not the box.I did this with some CDPs with JOn Rishcs timing crystal tweak, and it worked out pretty good.
