In soccer. Quite a match. Luckily EN VIVO has it live, nowhere to be found on any of the NBC family.

Follow Ups:
VERY exciting match (including overtime and shootout), and I was surprised to see Brazil actually win, especially after that 7-1 shellacking they got from the Krauts in the World Cup a couple of years ago. I also thought it was very classy of the German coach to take his team around the stadium to thank the crowd after what must have been a heartbreaking loss on that very last shootout kick.

Yes, the German coach did something extraordinary, in the true Olympics spirit.
Cheers

Don't forget that the olympic football teams are not the full senior national squads. It's under 23s with up to 3 senior players allowed.
Germany brought none of their first team, the 3 older players (the guy who missed the penalty and the Bender twins) are not regulars in the full international team.

Actually, it's two American teams in an elimination game. San Antonio, Texas versus Chula Vista, CA, both border towns and the teams are dominated with Hispanics which s a good thing, they're great ball players.

San Diego area teams are always in the semi-finals or finals these past few years!

Yeah, Park View won it in 2009. These guys from the same travel ball, er little league made it this year, but lost their first game to Iowa. Iowa?
Crazy! Texas is also a perennial favorite. They lost their first game. As did Japan.
Coming back in the losers bracket is nearly impossible because you don't have enough pitching when your number 4 is going against their number 1.
But, California's bats got going tonight and they're still in it.
No one have ever won the series after losing their first game.

I think a team did win the US side out of the losers bracket in the last few years. Like most Little League rules, it's perverse, not double elimination for the winners bracket team, just a final between a one loss team and a no loss team. I started to watch the other day, the Chula Vista team, batter turned away from a pitch that missed him by an inch or two. The umpire called it strike three. At least six inches off the plate. Not worth watching anymore.
You're right, I just read this morning that Hawaii did win the US Title after losing their first game a couple years ago, but none has won the World Series Title.
Some umpires do give nearly an extra fist on the corners. I remember that call too and another one that seemed awfully high getting called a strike. The announcers tend to replay the great pitches and not the questionable ones. The umps are volunteers. Replay does help as Park View had a out at the plate reversed yesterday.
The games to watch today would be NY at noon, a team that I haven't seen, but the talking heads have picked as the potential winner. Then Iowa, the team that beat Park View 1-0, at 4PM PST. Park View plays the winner of that game on Monday night.
