Very nice! LWR.
Very nice! Interesting tone. Maybe, it was the recording or the room where the video was done. Kinda flat sound. Not a lot of 3D depth. Surprising for cat gut, as usually has a much brighter tone. There article about Arlen Roth, at the bottom of the webpage, is also interesting. His instructional videos are some of the best.
Thanks, for the post!

The hands of two masters - one to build it, one to play it. Beautiful.
indeed!
VERY few Strad violins are as originally made.
New higher angled fingerboard, far higher string tension, thicker bass bar, higher bridge, .......
If Strads were not suitable to be driven louder, which was wanted by the larger venues for larger audiences - the middle classes - they and their maker would not be as famous.
Other makers were as or more desirable back when. Many of their violins did not respond well to the modifications.
E.g.? The Mozart family had Stainers, made on the other side of the Alps. The Smithsonian has two of them, which I've seen.
They are on some of the recordings of the Smithsonian's ensembles.
Warmest
