Judge "forcefully" nullified the 4-game suspension, verbally castrating Goodell and the NFL for a shit job and failing to compromise, although it takes both sides for that.
My opinion has been guilt was never the issue; the kangaroo NFL court was. A lot of non-evidence presented and used as basis for punishment far beyond anything of reason.
Finally called for what it was. I'm now predicting the end of Goodell this season.
Follow Ups:
The whiners will cry and bitch because the Pat's QB is better looking than their QB, can outplay their QB, has more rings than their QB, makes more bank than their QB, and dumps his baby batter in a hotter woman than their QB........SCOREBOARD!!!
Tom Brady 1, Bozo the Goodell 0...

And that's OK to an extent because I think he did know something and he'll have to live with that suspicion even from a fan like me.
I'm just glad that the unbridled unfairness of this entire process has been halted. Goodell could have embarrassed T.B. and the Patriots organization without going insane.
I think he'll survive, because I think the owners were telling him to burn New England down to ashes from the get go, and so he maybe had little real choice but charge blindly forward, at least given his limitations as a human being. But a good leader wouldn't have done it. A good leader would have had the inclination and skill to push back on the mob and do the right thing.

"If you are the owner of a new stereophonic system, this record will play with even more brilliant true-to-life fidelity. In short, you can purchase this record with no fear of its becoming obsolete in the future."
So the cheating went unpunished yet again and a East coast judge ruled in favor of a east coast team. Just the beginning of the end for the corrupt NFL. Would imagine you're a Patriot fan eh? And of course have no bias.
Fact remains the balls were deflated and the team is known for their cheating ways! This isn't the only time.
But of course you wouldn't be doing that, eh?
So you're saying you're not a fan and that you're free from bias on this issue? Or that you are a fan and that this rocks because you're a fan? Or you feel that cheating is fine in sports as long as your teams the one doing it? To me the whole incident of patriots cheating over and over has been a black eye for the NFL and who wants to watch a sport thats not really fair and if ones caught in violation of rules and benefits from it that this is just fine no penalties. So tell me how this type of rulings going to reduce cheating? I feel it will only increase since no real consequences exist and if others are cheating and get a competitive edge because of it all will have to cheat to stay competitive.
Cheating over and over again. Really? The filming was unauthorized and they got the biggest punishment ever in the history of the NFL, and the label "Spygate" even though they made no attempt to hide what they were doing in front of a packed stadium and on TV.
And they admitted to doing it immediately - no cover up of the facts at all.
Then there have been unproved accusations against the Patriots.
Then there is the fact that what Brady is alleged to have done is similar to what lots of other people have done. That does NOT make it OK, but it certainly is relevant to punishment and his reputation in result to others.
Let's see . . . what else? Nothing.
I don't think it's cool if he cheated. I really don't think it's OK. But it is an equipment rules violation, and the punishment is prescribed by the CBA: A minor fine.
Berman was right to hold the punishment to be totally arbitrary and contrary to the CBA.
Goodell should be ashamed of the entire mess he created.

But so is everyone who bothers to comment on this fiasco. Those who are not biased are not football fans and not commenting on this.

I find modern football to be one of the worst things america has created the Jock culture has damaged schools, research, government etc. I also am a resident of WI Da packers went to a school that helped start football in the USA= Wayland and I still find the whole thing revolting.
It's really hard for me to figure out where exactly you are coming from, but that's OK. I share some of your disdain for football and its influence on American culture, but I just don't go as far as you do. (Oh, and I think the NCAA is probably more sinister than the NFL, but that's sort of a different matter.)
I cannot pretend to know how I would feel if I were truly unbiased, and I am admittedly too much of a "homer" not to feel VERY happy today.
Judge Berman for President! Down with Goodell! :-)

I did back in the day. Today I don't trust game results. I hate to see the huge amount of money taken away from education going towards sports. In Wisconsin's at UWM 3 highest paid are coaches. To me this wrong on many levels. Is the university about entertainment? Not education? What % of high school or college level players make it to pro level and how many that do have successful careers? and is this really worth destroying america's ability to compete world wide?
When was the last time you witnessed 80,000 people pack a stadium to watch some egg head do a lab experiment?
The facts are that Camp Randall is packed every other weekend all fall because the people of the dairy state want to watch big time division 1 college football. They travel from far and wide and pay a lot of money to hotels, gas stations, restaurants, and the U of W to do so. The University of Wisconsin's coffers are flush with cash because of this, and they in turn can offer some "egg head" that has never worn a jock strap in his entire life a full ride ACADEMIC scholarship as a result. The U of W can (as all the other major division 1 schools) also can pay the women's golf coach, men's swim coach a livable wage and fund their money losing programs.
Egg heads everywhere should thank God that 80,000 people show up and many more tune in to watch some prop 48 inner city kid play football because it rings the cash register $$$$$.
No pays to watch some molecular biology student conduct an experiment, but they sure as hell pay for it - indirectly.
The same can be said for the Hockey program at the U of W.
Coaches get paid what the market will bear. Are they worth it? They must be because they are getting paid. The board of trustees at the U of W are smart people and wouldn't be paying coaches the kind of money they do if they didn't realize a huge economic boon by doing so.

Good for america's youth
Ann Coulter has said that a sport cannot be considered to be a truly American one unless it is a game of "sublimated warfare". Who are we to argue? One of the reasons why football exists is to ensure that a civilized version of combat training is available during a child's formative years. Casualties are of course inevitable in realistic combat training and we accept, support, and absorb the inevitable as any civilized Superpower must do.

Former high school athletes also have to "suffer" more socioeconomic success as adults.

It's pretty fucking simple. My post was about the ruling based on no direct evidence and no compromise. Does it address guilt? I definitely said not. Is it a fair decision? For discip[line, it is not, nor is it intended to be. It is a fair decision regarding the case handling.
This is your second try to make it personal, and it ain't happening. My bias about Brady and cheating wasn't the point. My bias toward the NFL's actions is well stated. They blew it big time and have severely hurt themselves regarding any further actions they will need to attempt for future infractions. Credibility and competence are shot.
And I'm sure that this ruling will tested by other teams and individuals who see weakness.
Argh you have angry blood. I'm not your dude, and maybe swearing in replies is your way of expressing yourself, not making anything personal you are I just replied to a thread you started wrongfully assuming you wanted comments to it.
Too far off topic for the OP, that's all. Or whatever. Shit happens.

...Goodell has made the owners too much money so he will survive.
What will happen now is every player he disciplines will take him to court because he is so arbitrary.
He'll survive, but weakened and bruised, and probably not for more than another year or two once they find an equally sinister character to keep them rich.

"If you are the owner of a new stereophonic system, this record will play with even more brilliant true-to-life fidelity. In short, you can purchase this record with no fear of its becoming obsolete in the future."
"The Court finds that Brady had no notice that he could receive a four-game suspension for general awareness of ball deflation by others or participation in any scheme to deflate footballs,
and non-cooperation with the ensuing Investigation. Brady also had no notice that his discipline would be the equivalent of the discipline imposed upon a player who used performance enhancing drugs."
So the court did not find Brady innocent. What the court did do is wrongfully get involved in the procedures of a private club.
No one has the legal right to play in the NFL.

"Still Working the Problem"
The Federal Rules of Arbitration apply to the arbitration process under the CBA. Also, every contract under every state law contains an implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. So the NFL, the NFLPA and Brady all had the legal right to challenge this decision in federal court, and there is a lot of precedence of people doing just that.
Oh, and lest we forget, it was the NFL that filed the complaint with the Southern District of NY for a declamatory judgment affirming their decision. It was NOT filed by Brady or the NFLPA. Though of course they had every right to do so and would have had the NFL not acted first, the fact remains that the decision resulted from the NFL's request.

OK. So bottom line. Did Brady have the balls deflated?
If he did it is my opinion that he should be thrown out of the NFL in disgrace.
The court didn't say anything about that.

Just my OPINION but Brady may NOT have known. I suspect that someone acting 'on his behalf' did the deed. But not at his behest.
The Question Remains, however.
Can a professional football Quarterback at the peak of his game, tell when a ball is under inflated?
Too much is never enough
I've no idea where you're allegiances lie but I have noticed all New England fans feel Brady is innocent.
I think it was an unfair sting operation followed by a grossly disproportionate punishment that resulted from an arbitrary and capricious process.
I think it's embarrassing for Brady and the Pats, but no more so than heating footballs, pumping noise into a stadium, a receiver pplying stickem to his gloves, over inflating footballs, etc., etc., etc. That doesn't make it right, but it puts things into perspective, which is something the NFL sadly lacked throughout this asinine spectacle.
