1999 Chevy S-10 Pickup - $1600
I have a 1999 Chevy S-10 extended cab that makes for a great work truck...it's a 3.4 Liter, 6 Cylinder...it's great on gas and has no issues at all...just changed the oil 3 days ago... asking $1,600
I contacted the seller and here was her response:
Hi,and sorry for my delay,
My name is Leslie and I got your email about my 1999 S10 . I wanna say few words about my truck : excellent condition of body and paint , no scratches and no dents; the interior is clean; it has never been involved in an accident; the title is clear . I'm selling because I was promoted and transferred to RAF Elmendorf in Anchorage Alaska for a 3 years period, so I do not want to let it rust in my backyard, therefore I need a fast and reliable buyer.
A few more about the truck:

Sounds legit...here's a followup:
Hi again,my situation is a little delicate .The truck is already at our Military Logistic Department from Burlington Vermont, U.S. Army, crated and ready to go. The shipping will be free for you because i will transport it using the internal logistic department! The Logistic Department will deliver the car to the nearest Us army base from your area and from there i will use a tow-truck to have it delivered at your door. The whole shipping process will take 3-4 days.
As I'm unable to travel in the near future I decided to make this transaction through eBay Motors at a lower price. i believe this protects both buyer and seller and it's the right way to do this.
The final price is $1.500 which include delivery at your home address. If you decide to buy this truck email me : the name that will go on the title and the full shipping address , so i can inform eBay Motors that i have a buyer! I will forward your details to them and then you will receive an invoice (with no further obligations or fees). Then you will be able to talk with them directly and ask all you want to know....
Obviously scam flags went up (even though she didn't ask for the money up front), but even if it was a legit sale I didn't want to get caught up in that logistics nightmare. I can see her washing her hands if the truck arrived not as described, damaged, etc.,. I thanked her but no thanked at the same time.
Follow Ups:
sell a pickup truck without this oh-so-cool accessory:
The first thing I'd add would be a six inch steel pipe welded to the front. (Painted white, of course, to match the body color.)
:)
I think Toyota has the vehicle supply contract with the terrorists.
all the best,
mrh
Toyota has a better international reputation than most other small truck manufacturers, I believe. If Toyota had any connections to terrorism their trucks would not be wildly popular here, but indeed they are.
And responded to my text. Crafty indeed
"Hellen Storm" GMAFB.
Wouldn't it be RCAF for Royal Canadian Air Force?
My infallible 'back of the neck' hairs went to attention reading this. That's a real red flag indicator.
Too much is never enough
No that base is in Alaska, one of many issues in the email like the writer referring to itself as two different people: Leslie and Hellen and yes Hellen with two l's. Nigerian scam for sure.

...you could fly to Vermont to check it out, pick it up and drive it back.
"excellent condition of body and paint" of?
"it's a 3.4 Liter" Nope no such engine
"it's great on gas " no GM V-6 is great on gas 15 city 20 hwy
"transferred to RAF Elmendorf in Anchorage Alaska" No RAF at an American base in Alaska
"My name is Leslie " or "Sgt. 1st Class Hellen Storm.." take your pick then. I'll go with Leslie not Hellen two L's LOL
So that's enough

Very good detective work indeed!

I'll be selling my 1998 Toyota Tacoma V6 4WD, automatic, diff lock, power windows, power brakes, power steering, AC, cruise, AM/FM/CD. 149K miles on it now. At 133K miles it had timing belt & tensioners replaced, new water pump, spark plugs, spark plug cables, differential fluid flush, transmission fluid flush, brake fluid flush, cooling system flush, new tires, rear drums turned and new brake shoes. At 148K miles had front brake rotors replaced, new brake pads, brake fluid flush, cooling system flush, new battery. And oil changes about every 4K miles. I have no idea but I probably put as much money into it as it is worth. Bought used about 8 years ago mainly as my truck for bad snow days and Home Depot runs.
same engine & tranny. They run forever, yours should be good out to 400,000 miles. It looks very clean....
The picture looks good but that was taken almost 8 years ago. The Tacoma is more rough looking now. I'm debating selling it or just keeping it another 20K - 30K. I don't drive it much but it sure comes in handy when I need it.
I like the older Tundras too. They're not too crazy big but what I consider to be just about the right size.
Abe, I just traded my old 2002 Tacoma with 340,000 on it and got an easy $3000. From the dealer!
The 1st generation Tacomas 4x4 have a very nice resale value and yours is hardly broken in.
I rarely see older Tacomas up for sale and when they are, the prices are rather high.
I'm waiting to see and test drive a new 2016 Tacoma. A dealer told me they should be hitting their lots maybe in October or November. This is supposed to be big refresh year for the Tacoma. Already test drove the brand new GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado, the two that compete with the Tacoma.
Did you get a new(er) truck when you traded your Tacoma?
So many phone calls and emails from "buyers" wanting to use PayPal and ship the car across country.
My assumption, I didn't do a lot of digging into it, is they pay with PayPal, then dispute the sale. Either way, I eventually told people immediately PayPal was not an option.
In the long run, my bought as a certified series 325i, somehow became my winter car...
Too good to be true?

Peace.
Wow thanks for that;) Figured as such; I saw the 'RAF' reference and simply took it as a mistype on their part. In any event no money leaves my hands without touching, driving and having a mechanic check it out first.
This will be my third used pickup bought off Craigslist over the past 15 years. Hard to come by these days since they're in high demand for folks eager to make handy man, yard work wages. I've never paid over $1500 for any of them.
Just paste the URL you've already copied into the "Optional Link URL" box that's at the bottom of every message field and hit post. You can give it a name if you'd like, but even if you don't the below link is automatically inserted and makes life easier on everyone.
Seems everyone is heading there. BTW... think it is Elmendorf AFB. Not RAF. As in Royal Air Force?
It is AFB.
I lived there for 3 years as a kid.
