Coolest of the cool, Marchal Amplilux Headlights feature separate bulbs and separate reflectors for low and high beams.
The high beam reflector can be aimed independent of the low beam.
You could run 55w low beam, and 100w high beam bulbs if you wanted.
Getting hard to come by, theses really make the classic cars they fit in, stand out.
Wrong brand.
I have a used pair of Cat Eyes (Amplilux) and Cibie Super Oscar driving lights sitting in the garage. Took them off my Ti before selling the car (25 years ago). Used to run some night off-road stuff for fun.
Trying to get my friend to restore his 1971 2002. But, it another rotting ancient warrior. At this time.

Pity the errant high beam scofflaws coming your way back in the day.

That said the 2002 to go for is this one:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p12OSnUbPco
They had some vicious lag. A mate went to school with a rich kid who went through 4 of them in 3 months.
Friend has a 2002 Turbo. He prolly put less than 2K miles on it. Sitting in his garage, with all the rubber parts disintegrating.
White with red/blue stripes.
Not driving it is a sin.
had one when we met. It was refrigerator white with black interior. Went like crazy, way fun to drive in the twisties. We shipped it to Hawaii when we moved there and eventually replaced it with a Volvo wagon when she got pregnant.
In many ways I wish we would have kept it. I nearly bought a 3.0CS that was more sensible than the 3.0 CSL that the boy racer in me really wanted. However the baby was coming and there was no race track in Hawaii...so I bought a Ford F-100 with the 351 Cleveland engine.
Probably a good thing.
BMWs of that era rusted like crazy and in Hawaii you could probably watch it rot in real time.
Finding a PRISTINE example of the 2002 or its predecessor the 1600 is difficult. If I were in the market, I'd carefully go over the rocker panels with a teflon coated magnet looking for what I'll bet is a LOAD of Bondo.
I tried talking my dad into one in 1970 when a 2002 could be had for 3000$. Too bad he went for the Chevy Wagon.
The Tii versions, some of which came with a 5 speed were just Too Much fun. Even better handling, somewhat quicker, they'd give lots of much more $$ stuff a run for it, especially where agility is called for.
Too much is never enough
Own both, from undergrad days to post-grad. Alpina doo-dahs in the suspension. 9.3:1 compression and dual Weber side draught on the Ti. Fun car. Great midrange power. Suffered from inadequate drum brakes on the rear. Nice autocross/slalom car with proper suspension, wheel & tire upgrades.
Pretty reliable. Think I put almost 175K on the Ti.
Aside: My understanding, is Mike Brewer of Wheeler Dealers just bought an early model Honda S2000. Be interesting, if they do a fix-it episode.
An S-2000 is about a dozen years old. How could it need a 'fix it'? Mods? maybe, but most of 'em look like out of a cartoon.
I would have liked some FUNCTIONAL help with my '2000. Maybe vented REAR brakes. If the injectors will handle the extra volume, maybe a LOW PRESSURE supercharger. say 6psi max.
A lighter set of Forged Wheels in a 'plus' size? Replace bushings with Graphite Impregnated Poly?
Maybe some other goodies? OH! How about one of those HARD TOPS? If it made it quieter inside, maybe I could have even enjoyed the RADIO!
The Alpina was the Holy Grail of BMW. Whatever the last year for the 2002 was? ('75? '76?) equipped to that level. Great choice.
Too much is never enough
Last year of the 2002 was 1976. E21 engine. Massively detuned with a thermal reactor smog system exhaust.
Not sure if WD are going to do a show on restoration of an S2000. Maybe, if Mike bought a wreck or one with rust...
It was posted on his FB site. No indication whether the Honda will make it into a show.
I don't know if they actually made one that color or not? Any help or what YEAR, maybe?
There is a small but vocal minority who would LOVE to see another S-2000. Updated electronics and a convertible hardtop STANDARD.
I don't ever see this happening, though.
Too much is never enough
2007 models had some other color options, not available in other years. New Imola Orange was one.

When I bought mine, I went with White and a Tan interior. I had to dodge around BLACK interiors and no way would I drive a car with RED interior. Black interior in a drop-top makes little sense in a climate where you might actually USE it.
I liked the yakuza blue.
