bought this pipe, unsmoked and it smokes like a dream. I wasn't on this planet in 1962, must have been another world.

I have about 35 pipes, but I do not have a Dunhill. (I have heard they are very nice though). I have quite a few meerschaums, and an Ardore hand carved pipe (carved by Dorelio Rovera himself) from Italy that I paid $400 for and smokes beautifully. I once bought a cheap pipe at a dept store and sanded the finish off only to find it was a beautiful vertical grain briar that was worth a lot more than the $2 I paid for it. The most expensive meerschaum I have is a huge Buddha signed by the carver, which I paid $500 for.
I have about 21 pipes. This is my second Dunhill. I bought a brand new Chestnut by Dunhill for about $600, after that it hasn't been the same. This one that I put in the picture I got for about $180 after winning an ebay auction. I vowed never to buy older estate pipes. The stem was oxidized and I'm currently treating it in bleach water and then scrubbing the oxidation out with magic eraser. Well let me tell you after smoking this one I put in an order for another new one, it will hopefully come this week, paid $500 for that one. Dunhills smoke like a dream, living the dream as they say with an effortless draw.
I have an AND Meerschaum that I like, one of my favorite pipes is a Neptune, which I've read is the only factory pipe still made in the US, and it is a fairly new company out of Nashville. That was a little more than $200.
Agree on cheap pipes, I have a $13.32 pipe that I have been using most as a knock around pipe for outdoors in the wind.
What type of tobacco do you like? I like the English blends.
I smoke a variety of blends, mostly from Petersen. My "goto" blend is Peterson Connoisseur's Choice. I also usually have some of their Irish Flake around as well.
