Quota-filling time. Just got an autographed memo from a highway troller for 11 over on my Yamasaki. He was a nice enough fellow, but its the first trap I've seen on that particular stretch of road. Oh well, no biggie. First citation in a long while, but watch yourselves out there. It's revenue time.

And the speed cameras in Nassau County LI have already issued 2.5M in fines...Can't wait till school starts...they're gonna make a killing over here.
On our main highways especially TransCanada or Highway #1, you can go as fast as you want as long as you don't go over 132 KM./H. However, we have zero tolerance on our school and playground zones...

I heard a lot of folks like Valentine.
I have used mine for 6 or 7 years. It ships to Calif with the scrambler disabled as jammers are against the law here. A phone call to their 800 number gives you the sequence of button pushing to turn the scrambler on, this is just done once.
No problems at all with the unit since I bought it. It has saved my bacon numerous times. Do I feel guilty about using an illegal device? Why should I?
Did I mention the dash board switch that allows me to turn off the brake lights if I happen to have a sudden need to slow way down way fast?
A friend of mine rented a brand new SUV that came with new gadgets to make driving less stressful. Anyway, he was driving from LA to San Francisco and while cruising at a constant speed to keep the safe distances between the car behind him and the one in front, he would hear a weird noise inside the cab, every now and then. He thought there was something wrong with the engine...as he was about to pull over to investigate, but, the cop beat him to it. Needless to say, he received a speeding ticket. And oh, that noise he heard, it came from the built-in car radar system warning, which basically asking him to slow down.
He told me the built-in car radar system was a useless piece of crap, because it didn't save him from having a speeding ticket...Duh! He should have gone over its operating manual before driving it...

Crazy! Bet he's aware of that tone, now.
Thanks, Larry for the tip on the Rocky Mtn Device. Just got a 2006 Honda S2000 (F22, AP2). Fun-mobile.
Picked up an '05 a few months back. Fun indeed...
10W-40?
thanks!
Full synthetic for sure. The car had just had an oil change when I picked it up, and I haven't put that many miles on it yet. Before I put it away for the winter, it will get the royal treatment, since I'll never sell this car.
I can be doing the speed limit on the freeway, and the troopers pass me like I'm sitting still.
A bit hypocritical, don't you think!
...it's quite common to see cars doing 75 in the far L lane in a 65 zone. A few times I was doing 75 and not paying attention, and got passed by police cars.
Only the CHP can give you a ticket on a freeway highway. Highways that are also local streets, like Cal One, have joint jurisdiction. The CHP will not give you a ticket for less than 9 mph over the limit, unless the particular officer is an unusual prick having a very bad day. Finally, your speedometer may not be accurate.
I see them en masse and my son had the unfortunate experience of being nabbed by one. Palmer, Texas cop on I-45 south of Dallas.
Unrelated comment:
I worked in the Bay area 2 years and travelled the interstates daily, I can probably count on one hand the number of speed traps I saw. My buddy and I were amazed. We seldom drove less than 80 unless traffic prevented us tho we did go the speed limit on the daily trip across and back on the Bay Bridge.

Hey RW, be very careful along 35E south of Denton. Hickory Creek and Corinth police love to watch that section of highway. Sometimes, it'll be a single patrol car sitting/driving along the service/frontage road, sometimes it'll be a motorcycle cop with the radar just over the crest of an overpass - signalling to multiple patrol cars waiting 1/2 mile down the road.
It's a money maker, partly because of their low tolerance, partly because it's 55 mph along there - which many people don't realize, and partly because there's a lot of dufusses going way too fast for the amount of traffic/entrances/exits along there.
:)
You have an out of state plate or are driving what is an obvious rental car.
I was picked out of a flow of traffic on I-10 around Yuma but totally out in the desert with no buildings in sight. I was not going any faster than anyone else, though we were all probably going more than 9 mph over the speed limit.
But that's just life, I suppose. The MA State Troopers love to bag drivers from NH and CT. It's not fair, but tribalism seems to be a core trait of human nature.

I assume you meant 8 rather than 10, because Yuma. I-8 in Calif is risky for speeders, but on the Arizona side there's only one state trooper for a long stretch.
We were on our way to Tucson from San Diego.

I have some old sports cars with Lotus engines, but I am not comfortable going too fast in them. I used to drive a supercharged jag real fast, but that car is gone.

at the speed limit? Someone breaking into your house, you want that cop going the speed limit to CASA Alpha A1?
Me, I'll give the cops a little slack on the roads.

and you think that the cop should drive at 65 to catch him? How's that work?
No where in Alpha A1s post did he mention that anyone else was "doing 80 in a 65" - he just said he sees cops speeding.I do too. All the time, and without any apparent pursuit. Another thing that some of my local police love to do is turn on their overhead lights to run red lights and stop signs and then turn the lights off right afterwards.
There is no question that some cops have a sense of entitlement to break traffic laws when there is no reason to, simply because "they can", and I think it should stop.
Notice I said "some". I think most police do NOT do this, but enough do to make it stand out and convey a sense of arrogance and disregard for the rules.

been cut here. The only good outcome of the tax revolt. No consequent increase in accident fatalities, either...
