renege his contract now that Weber will be making $14MM for the next 4 seasons with the Flyers eh? 14 years for $110MM, wow! and to think the CBA is renegotiating the length of the players contracts to 5 years max with the team owners. It makes me wonder what kind of money will Nash sign for?....

Actually, given what I've been reading, and hearing, regarding the two "home boys" (Suter & Parise), I don't think they'll be going anywhere for a awhile, contract or no. Both of them seem to be genuinely happy to be here, playing in front of their friends and family.

has finally pulled the trigger today, as he traded himself to New York Rangers. According to some pundits who were weighing on the results of the trade, it looks like the Columbus Jackets got fleeced again.
Oh well, if it's any consolation they will have two first round draft picks next year, one via New York and the other one is for finishing behind the Oilers.

Looks to me like Glen Sather cut himself a pretty good deal!
And it's a "win-win" for us (you & I) as well, as now we won't have to deal with him for most of the season....

....that Weber was better than Suter. So Weber should get paid more because he is better than Suter.
It does seem ridiculous looking at these 12 and 14 year contracts being offered at the same time the owners are talking about lowering the max contract length to 5 years. I think the 5 year max suggestion is only to help the weaker teams survive. I don't know if it's really good for the game though. What happened to survival of the fitest?
I heard this morning that they couldn't work out a trade, soHolmgrenSnider got pissed and used the "poison pill" strategy. As a restricted free agent, make an offer so high Nashville couldn't match. Given the whole Predators franchise is worth something like 150-160 million, paying one player about 70% of the value of the franchise would be (L)insane.
Of course, this is why Flyers tickets are priced out of reach of the average person. And, if you do stay home to watch, you can usually only see them on the Comcast Network so they get your money that way too.

It seems like Nashville was stuck on gettong Couturier and the Schenn brothers in return, which the Flyers wisely turned down. Actually, as a Flyer fan, I'm hoping that Nashville matches the offer. $110 mil and (4) 1st round picks is too much to invest in one piece of the puzzle in this 'concussion' era of the NHL. IMHO.
