Don't really want to, but it's necessary for my sanity and quite possibly my safety.
I will be downsizing my main system tremendously. An event I am not looking forward to.
It's for the best, but it's also bittersweet. I did really love the house and found it to be quite perfect for my interests and life. But I guess life moves on and I should move with it.

That was a really nice looking house, and I know how excited you were about it.Not that it's any of my (or anyone else's) business, but I hope that you did "ok" on the financial end of it. As it turns out, one of my fellow hockey players is a Realtor, and according to him the market around here is "all over the place".
And please don't downsize the system too much, or too quickly. "Been there, done that", and it's something you
maywill regret later.

I didn't lose money, which I guess at the moment is as good as possible.
I already have a place to move in mind, a much smaller condo, have my offer in. It's nice but there's not enough room for full range speakers, two BAT VK150SE monoblocks, and all the sources. I am thinking I might go down to an integrated tube amp and a pair of bookshelf speakers in a smaller room/home office space. Keeping the turntable, a tuner, and my iMac as sources.
It is a nice unit, seperated from the others and sharing no walls, with a garage attached, a security system, and in a very quiet part of town. It is a downsizing, but it's still very nice.
Either way, the big expensive stuff is nice, however I don't think it's necessary to enjoy the music.

If you like the BAT sound, check out the VK-300 integrated amp. Admittedly, it's a hybrid, but I sure like mine.
In your new place, you probably can't (if you don't want the neighbors coming at you with pitchforks) reproduce the scale of live music. But adjusting to music on a smaller scale is not so bad, if the equipment reproducing it is good. I think the biggest issue may be finding a pair of speakers that don't need to be halfway out into the room to sound right. That's often the biggest problem with a small room, not the footprint or the visual size of the speaker.
Hey, you have a VK300. Do you have the tube version? How hot does it get, and how much room to breathe does it require? It's on my list of integrateds.
My speakers will probably be either on a shelf or some type of book case like enclosure. Not sure yet.
