Maybe not so strange...
A few weeks ago I dreamed my dog had died. There was no drama involved.
About a week after that, she was acting puny so my wife took her into the vet & they did some blood work. She took her back the next day & we found out she had inoperable tumors on vital organs.
I found her dead this morning on the kitchen floor.

but for a large dog, 11 yrs is a good life. We humans live long enuf to outlast several dogs, which means we go thru this several times in our lives. But think of the good times they bring us, and visa versa. and remember how to tell the difference between a wife and a dog: lock them both in the trunk of your car for a couple hours. your dog will be the one who's happy to see you.
I just finally got around to reading your post. From the responses I knew it was bad news, but not the nature of it.
My sincere condolences. Losing a pet is always difficult. Having it die at home can be even more troubling. I had that happen with my first cat.
Warm regards.

greyhounds - that the racers don't want / any more - are wonderful dogs, quiet, loving and intent!
OR you could try a cat or two!?
So down to the local ASPCA shelter and DO it!

Thanks also to you folks who read this but didn't post anything. I know sometimes I read about heartbreaking things & just can't say anything...
She was 11 in April and didn't suffer.

She looked great in that picture. I am sure you had a lot of good times together. Cherish the memories and consider a puppy when you are ready.
to your wife and yourself. Our lives become so entwined with our pets' needs and the love they return. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Once, I had an idea...
My condolences. We have four dogs and the dad of two of them is aging. At ten he has hip dysplasia and has pain on days when he runs around a lot. I know he'll go someday. I hope it's quick when it happens.

My sincere condolences to you both.
it sounds like she avoided the prolonged pain and suffering that usually accompanies such tumors. It's always difficult to lose a member of the family, but it is even worse to have to watch them suffer.
Damn dreams. Take care. Maybe you should do what I do: Go kick and scream at a tree stump somewhere.
Good thoughts to you and your wife.
...I send my heart-felt condolences to you & yours at this sad time.

My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to you and your wife. I know very well the grief caused by the loss of a loved pet, and my thoughts and prayers go out to you.
(Man, that just doesn't sound adequate, does it? I wish I could do/say more...)
