I really loved the Jazz Crusaders. The Jazz Crusaders were primarily acoustic and played straight ahead Jazz. Sometime in the mid 70s they dropped Jazz from the group's name, and they played more more "pop"/fusion.
The Crusaders I believe were more successful monetarily, and it was great to see them cash in. I own albums by both groups. I haven't listened to either group in years.

yup, I just realized that I have three old LP's from 70's the "Crusaders". But it looks like the main players remained after the name change - Hooper, Sample,Felder, Henderson, Popwell and suprisingly Larry Carlton ( man that guy goes way back!)
I'm going to play them now.
