Or a Walkman with K-Mart ear buds. Or how about a 1/4 amp fuse?
Crazy is right.

Sue, By the lack of any response from Geoff it looks like he did go back on his meds. Tweaker
Sue, If my ballpark estimate of 54AWG being rated for about .001 amps, 1/1000th of an amp I doubt it would be able to come close to running a 12 watt light bulb. Maybe Geoff can respond with something other than a logical fallacy at some point. Like maybe he can do the research on the current rating of 54 gauge wire and then show how this is compatible with what a speaker would require? Tweaker
I spoke with a techie friend of mine and he is the one who suggested maybe a 12 watt light bulb. The other things he said about Geoff Kait I won't repeat.
In my experience, people who resort to name calling (like Geoff) usually do so as a diversionary tactic when they know not of what they speak.
Prove me wrong Geoff.

The magnitude of this moronacy is mind boggling. If Mapleshade used 54AWG, and I don't doubt it since they seem to be the main thin wire mavens out there they would be using it for interconnect, not speaker wire. That's where the math works out. T
Mapleshade does sell speaker wire, but I'm not sure about the gauge wire they use. If I have time, I'll see if I can find out. I used to get their catalogs in the mail but haven't seen one in quite some time.
If you google "Mapleshade speaker wire" you'll find a number of reviews.

Just call Pierre and ask him if he has 54awg speaker wire. He surely will tell you how that would be nonsense.
Well Sue, Your techie friend is a bit off also. I did the simple math. With a max current rating of .0137 amps using an 8 ohm load the wattage is about .0015 watts. Yes I got it right. 1.5 to the -03 power. This is how incredibly stupid using 40awg for speaker wire is. 54awg should carry about half the current of 40awg. Twice as stupid. Enough power to blow an amoeba's ear drums out. Tweaker
Awe come on Sue. Go ahead, repeat it.
So far you haven't said anythung that contradicts my original claim that stereo speakers don't require more than a few hundreds of milliamps on average. Hel-loo!
If you take off the Hel-L you end up with a number which represents the amount of credibility that Geoff has. Back on your meds dude.

I tend to doubt all of those equations are applicable since I have heard 54 ga. Speaker Cable as I mentioned in my other post and it sounds EXTREMELY GOOD. Plus I seem to recall measuring more like 2 amps at the speaker terminals when music was playing. Could my memory be on the fade?
English majors shouldn't get into technical arguments. One assumes Audio Beat doesn't actually pay for your reviews. ;-)

How's about psychology majors smarty pants? Psychology majors armed with 2nd grade math. Something called Ohm's Law.
It would appear you've psyched yourself out.
I might have made the mistake of thinking that this was a photo of you, Geoff, but goats have brains. Anymore quirky little insults instead of proof, like math and physics?
