Hi Freddy. I got bored so I put these together this morning. Using dims for the Fountek Fe83 but am using the GR Research LGK 3" driver. I know you said to get the guy on DIY Audio to run the specs and optimize if for me. I didn't want to bother someone else. The inner baffles are like putting a puzzle together to try to get the angles perfect. (mine aren't)When I'm done I'll post another pic and let you know how they are.

please tell us how it sounds. Thanks.

I have a pair of Xki type with Dayton PA130 - the tight aperture and thin 9mm aperture plate makes some music sound too colored and congested - a proper Karlson including the originals with the right drivers sound really good. You might consider a mini "Karlsonator" - you can ask xrk971 to simulate for your driver's specs.

They didn't do it for me. I shipped 'em to Freddyi yesterday to add to his collection. Sorry.
Too much felt lining? Trying to dampen waves from going back to cone. Thanks.

probably not - that's excellent cabinet work

So good looking strong little boxes. Feel like biting them. Is there a port coming with the rear panel? Could you give us the dimensions?
Cheers

These are a design Freddyi put me on to. They are on pg. 8 of the XKi thread on DIY Audio. No port in back. Exits through the front like a traditional Karlson enclosure. Internals are quite a bit different. The dimensions are for the Fountek FE83 or FE85. I'm using the GR Research LGK 3" driver instead. Probably will give them a listen later today. My garage is hot enough so it's time to stop. On a really "toasty" day it can get to 114 deg. in my garage.
if you have any scrap or take cardboard, it might be useful to test the aperture on vocals and if not fully satisfied, adjust - mine, which is just as XRK971 built, is somewhat congested with PA130 on soprano voice - might partly be the lack of treble power with PA130 - maybe making the slot "go up" a bit would improve mine. Also, mine are 9mm or thinner birch for the aperture = somewhat resonant

The cabinet is all 1/2" birch ply. So make the aperture out of thinner stock? I may be able to get them playing today. I only work in the morning since it still gets hot here in Texas.
those look super sturdy
