had a pair for a long time but never tested - did they normally run "naked" or with waveguide? what would be a reasonable xover point and slope? how far up do they go? (I will test assuming they're functional)unit I could locate quick = somewhat less sensitivity than a Dayton polymide 1" CD on "THE TUBE" and seems to only operate from around 6K2 to 17K and not even flat there with 3.3uF

If you look inside the huge can you will find a series cap already installed, so a large external cap will not do what you think it will.
At least my pair was set up like that.
Xover freq is about 7k on mine, so you are in the ballpark with your findings. Fairly high. These are supertweeters.
I forget the precise details but the value of the cap, if installed, will tell the tale.
I suppose this unit was designed to take over where the matching midrange horn falls off.
Decent sounding tweets I think. A bit soft, not overly aggressive. Nice.
They did not have a waveguide but an accessory utility cabinet was available for them . This is a simple rectangular MDF box in black pebble finish. The front plate of the tweeter is flush with the box.

thank you very much - I didn't run an iinput impedance curve - they might make a nice "helper tweeter" for something like Eminence's 12LTA
