- see North Reading has a scheme including a basshorn notch filter. room walls ring like a bad car sub sounds - I want to get the bass "tighter" and with better coherency. "P-trap" on midhorn upper peak is probably welcome - nothing crazy complex nor expensive parts-wise.

Freddy, by FAR of more importance than component pedigree, is having the correct values and response shape correction.
If you can send me the text file version of your frequency response and impedance, i can give you a hand with something to try.
All of our Synergy Horns that have a passive xover are made this way because when your load is something other than a resistor, text book filters don't work properly

Can you describe the speaker and driver arrangement?
What do you take measurements with?, I need the magnitude and phase and impedance as .txt files.
And could they be done outdoors (usually gives better results)?
If you're near Atlanta, there may be a possible alternative.

Just my two cents, but I bought some years ago ALK "Universal" network for my LaScalas, and it made a night and day difference, plus the medium level can be adjusted without any loss of quality, and the design gives flat 8ohms load for the amplifier. Highly recommended!
that sounds like a good option - do you remember if the woofer inductor is 1.3mH as in the schematic below? (that might be for an 8 ohm woofer - ??) - -I've got a pair of old heresy boards which could be converted without waste if their 2.5mH inductor is correct for the "Universal"

When I had Khorns I preferred A crossovers. I switched to the 4 ohm tap on my MC30s and my tried my 300b set amps on 8 and 4 ohm tap. I'd swear the 4 ohm tap was best. Give it a try... I don't like the later khorn xovers. I also tried alk and it just wasn't my cup of tea... YMMV of course...

Sadly no.. I've tried jensen, auricap, solen but i keep going back to old school big ugly klipsch type oils or maybe i'll try some of those russian oil caps next time. Its all fun..

thanks - (- not seen acoustic measurements for Al's work) I have a pair of old Heresy networks which think can be converted to ALK's "Super AA".North Reading Engineering provided some acoustic measurements - their notch filter for the basshorn looked effective but could be costly.
I replaced the caps on one of my AA xover's with Obbligato motor run poly caps but did not like the result - their ESR wasn't all that much different than the old Aerovox caps. My Heresy's have ancient KBG 2uF caps and sound beautiful. The main fault I hear in the stock H1 crossover seems to be the transition from the woofer to the midhorn -(?) btw- an ESR meter I bought from China died quickly - maybe the lever clamp socket failed (?) banana jacks would make a lot more sense if used "instead" of that delicate socket. (some cheap ESR meters have that damned socket plus pigtail wired banana jacks)
are ellipic crossovers useful in the K-horn? I tried one on a coax and don't think in that particular case that it had sonic merit.
I don't want to dump much $$ partly as am in poor financial circumstances and partly because am not in love with the K-horn. My room walls are - vinyl sideing/ modern 2x6/ flooring plywood/ sheetrock - and ring horribly. I can lightly hit the wall and it will "boooooommmmmmmmm" for over a second. ;^(
as a departure from my Karlson fetish, I had a little (7 cubic foot bulk) hypex midbass horn made as a reference. Its built of 5/8" Baltic birch and with bracing, quite rigid. The current driver is an old "buyout" Community 12" woofer. I may load it with a B&C 12pe32 although its designer says that will not go higher - but instead "tilt" the response as the "C-horn" geometry is the limiting factor vs mass-rolloff.
