If you think Qts is ~0.6-ish or less then as a guess, consider a Karlsonator 6 - put fluffed damping material in the pointy "stub" portion above the driver

What would be the optional QTS for a karlson?
I am planing to build a pair of karlsonator .4x soon.
I have on hand a pair of fostex 3 inch drivers (qts .47)
A pair of mark audio 3 inch drivers (qts .5)
A pair of audio nirvana 3 inch drivers (qts "highish" .9)
I also plan on purchasing a pair of tang band w3-1878 drivers.
These look like very nice drivers with a qts of .23.
Anyways just wodering what your thoughts are on this.

hey Cal - - ideal qts can vary depending upon situation and driver resonance - if you know the driver's parameters, then Diyaudio member xrk971 usually will take the time to do an Akabak simulation. I've had the L.Cao F6 with qts around 0.7 play pretty well in a stock Karlsonator 6. Qts of 0.9 might be doable - a sim would tell. If the Mark audio units have clear sound then they should be good in a mini Karlsonator. The "XKi" approach looks for lower q and lower Vas.I was pleasantly surprised how good a single Dayton PA130 (5 inch frame) plays in a little Xki - dual XKi and Karlsonator are something I've not yet heard.
Best,
Freddy
