I've got modded crossovers and better wiring inside, but I'm thinking of adding a Super tweeter to the 811 horns and 806 driver. .... Yeah an 802 might go a little higher, but not enough for my old ears.
What I'd like is something I could mount inside the 811B's, and could go to 20KHz and at least 99db efficient. ... Ha Ha ....I'm dreaming right.
Second choice would something I could mount adjacent to the 811's.
Any thoughts ?
Thanks
Willie

..for your suggestions.
I think I'm going to try both the Pyle and the Beyma drivers ..... and I will plan to add a few Bypass caps too !

Beyma CP25
nothing beats them at the price IMHO
I 2nd the Beyma cp25.
I have 'em atop my 811b/802g's and they sound great!
I'm running ALK Engineering ES crossovers; In fact my CP25'S were Al's (ALK Engineering) personal pair.
I "de-finned" my 811b horns.

Thanks geez
The Beyma CP25 like it might work.......and my Valancia's
811B's have been Definned also, I found for my room defined sounds better... JMHO.

Another advantage for the Beyma, is that it also uses a bi-radial horn which should provide a fairly good matching of directivities in the transition region for easier integration. I wouldn't underestimate this aspect of the CP25 in this particular case.
First order XO at ca. 10k and an L-pad (still using an adjustable one tuned to taste; need to convert to fixed resistors -- one of these days).
I think this combination works well.
I used to use Radio Shack 40-1375 planar tweeters (http://www.pimmlabs.com/web/40-1375.htm) with my Valencias, but I reckon that the aforementioned Fostexes would have worked very well, too.
The R/S planars sound very sweet and are cheap if a little hard to find (they were a knock-off or perhaps an OEM version of a well-respected JVC tweeter of the 1980s); they're not really quite sensitive enough for the Altecs (right on the edge in that respect).
I reckon there are other fine choices; I probably couldn't afford most of them, though.
all the best,

Its an AMP problem sir !!!
Proper bypassing of EVERY cap in your SE DHT amps !!!!
Two values, you actually know them, AND the brand.
I've been working on it last two weeks, and today ALL DAY !!
No way around it, as "good a cap" as possible, after hearing it !!

I've tried a few bullit horns (Fostex, Parts Express, Radio Shack) that weren't overly expensive (The Radio Shack worked best and I think I paid $10 for the pair 12 years ago). The result I got was integrating them proved difficult. Because of their narrow dispersion I had to be right on them to make them sound right. Time aligning them can be difficult too, I found I had to place them behind my Valencias on a stand. I'm sure someone more experienced with crossovers would have a better result.
I never got around to trying it but I did hear a pair with EV T35 or T350 tweeters mounted above the cabinets. It worked well.
Personally I think the 802 driver and some version of the Model 19 crossover is the best way to go.
I tried the Fostex T90A. Just couldn't get it to blend well, wasn't very smooth so I scrapped the project and lived on happily with my Flamenco's with stock and update crossovers for many years. I read that ribbons don't blend to well either but have no experience with them. I think you really have to step up to the higher priced T900A horn bullets for the extension and the super smoothness, pricey. T500AmkII's- ouch! $$$
These are small an high efficiency. Would mount in the horn without much trouble. I used a pair in a set of PA loudspeakers because nothing else would fit. Well made, and did a reasonable job. I used them above 5k. For your application, bring them in about 10k to add that last octave the Altecs lack.
How about 2 of these per side?
