At least that what I think they are. I would love to find the spec sheet with crossover schematic. They look like a kit. The overload transistors look like a Ev circuit and they have eliminator drivers except t350b for tweeters.
Follow Ups:
These are EV "Eliminator 10"
Eliminator 10 .
Thanks man thats them. Finally after all this time! I am still looking at using the bins. I was looking for 1b crossover schematics and found this old thread. I want to use the bass end of my 1B crossovers in this bin.
Check this crazy link to the Smithsonian art piece inspired by the 1b directly
I've spotted two pairs of EV- Eliminator 10 (a.k.a. "Dominator") a couple of years ago on ebay, when I was actually searching for Vintage-Hornsystems to build up a reggae-"wall-of-fame".
Using some paint, some older amping - (1) Behringer dcx, (1) lab-gruppen 1000, (1) Lab-Gruppen 1200 - two Eliminator 1, some unused 12" Hornbins and two d&b B2-copies - I raised the "schrill-bunter-Reggae-Stack", as i called this:
(engl. translation should be something like "shrilly colourful-reggae-stack" ;-)
by that way:
Does anyone know the red hornflare (usually it should be white...)?
I use the 1824 driver on it. It is definitly NOT HD8, but has the same 1 3/8" tread.
The other used components are:
EV 15L (lo-mid) and ST 350 (high).
Actually, the setup doesn't need the L (lead) version of the 15" speaker, as I cut them rather low and sharp tho the Mit 1824, but it were the cheapest on ebay...
I disconnected the original crossover an run the Dominators 3way active crossed, the Eli 1 and the Infra-Sub (2x18") on their own channels of the dcx. the whole setup is mono, the amps have about 380W @4Ohms (~200W per 15" speaker) and 300W on each of the 4 18".
the red Eli 1 are used solely as a kicker - so somewhere between 55 an 200Hz, the Dominator is used as a top starting at about 160Hz.
Never found the plans for these myself. Believe they were called EV "dominators".
Thanks They are 15l woofers arnt they? I will check them again tomorrow.I will search eliminator ten.
Iam searching through the discontinued Ev data. I cant find the plans. Maybe they are Australian jands plans. I don't know.
another
Those look like copies of the Orange 1x15 folded horn cabinet.
Here is another from the UK that has had the tweeter replaced and the front repainted.
Hi Djk They are carpet exact same as my eliminators. These look right except for the tweeters. My eliminators where built from a kit in Australia though these actually are stronger ply that I have not seen over here before.Almost Birch ply. They have transistor tweeter protection like the Ev s3? The one with the 15 ,sealed mid and T350 Tweeter.Reflex box for semi permanent.
The crossovers are Australian and a sad joke. The wires on the inductors are so thin they literally fell out of the boards and snapped off. None of these horns are set up. Just the RA in the Acousta. I am not rushing. I am going to do it right. I have waited 15 years for a successful horn set up I can weight 6 more months if I have too. I won't compromise on crossover inductors. I want copper 4 mm thick in the bass inductors. I will wind them them myself if I have too. Check out the inductors in these Krix 3 ways using plastic Richard Allan drivers. I wanted to buy them just for the inductor's. They are in the bottom underneath the woofer entry.
Comparing horn designs between the 2 W bins. The horn path length looks longer then my eliminator. I like that the driver mounts from the back. I can try my big warfedales easy enough and any other driver I want to experiment with. They might actually be hifi quality. I do have a set of proper horn plans for the ev15l though.
The back showing easy access unlike the bigger eliminators I have of the evm15l. I suspect and hope the bins go lower then the bigger ones.
Locally the original ones have nice biamp crossovers too.
Sure does look like an EV12L to me

You can find the spec sheets and EDS's on the EV site linked below. From the front, the tweeters look like ST350's. The ST350A had a round magnet, the ST350B had a square one. They both need an EQ circuit to flatten out the lower end due to the CD horn used, and that's described in the EV spec sheets. The cab looks home made, though sturdily constructed. I would turn it upside down so the bass horn is nearer the floor for a bit more bass extension (I would guess it goes down to about 80 Hz or so), and mount the tweeter higher up nearer the mid. The mid horn does'nt look EV, and you don't mention the mid driver. The crossover also looks home made. Placing the inductors on the same plane like that will guarantee some cross talk between them, especially the two on the right. At least stand the middle one up, and turn it 90 degrees to the others.
Hope this helps
Paul
Hey Paul the crossover boards are real cheap and marked jands. The mid drivers are the same as the early eliminator. The beautiful 1829 driver that I thought I had in my first pair eliminators until I pulled them out to find they where the later black ones. These are 6 inches round. Iam excited about getting a pair. I was pretty beat up at the time I found these cabs for 120$ locally. I laughed all the way home. I usually pay retail for everything off ebay. The woofers look real clean too. But the woofers the mids the tweeter it all adds up to some sort of Ev kit to me. What horn I want for these 1829s is a long pair of goto expo horns. I think they would be perfect. I guy has a pair locally but he is just not reasonable on the price. I am working on the deal. I may have to make my own horns for them. The s-300's they are. I think these 1829 need a slower opening then a tratrix for eg. The exponential flare rate I think will get a flatter response with the advantage of having no lip . I can get the tweeters in closer up close in my room. My bed room is where I want to use the 1829's. Actually I have a 2 to one manifold. 2 screw to a single one inch bolt pattern. I am looking to buy a second pair to try twin 1829's just for fun:)And maybe a little more low end.According to djk they are real sweet drivers. I don't plan to use any of the enclosure. Or I hadn't. If the horns did better then 80 I might try lay them on their sides as you say and put the reflex bass on their sides on top. And use my big Yamaha radials on top with my mid bass horns on top of that. You can see the s-300 goto unit horn in the catoldog below. Its not a big horn just 500mm long.

"According to djk they are real sweet drivers. "I was able to get them ±1dB from 800hz~6.3Khz on the Community SRH90 with a passive crossover that had about 6dB of attenuation on the 1829 with a series LC tank bypass of the series resistor tuned to about 6Khz (IIRC).
The result sounded very clean and natural on vocals, and received high praise from the customer (a band).
Subsequently I made several hi-fi speakers with the 1829 that used a KSM 1016 piezo crossed at 7Khz. One fellow that owned JBL drivers (including the 077) sold his JBLs and bought my driver/crossover kit for himself after he listed to the kit he built for his sister.

Thanks Djk I found a pick of the community horns. I have a very large set of radials I bought with Yamaha drivers. They are too big for my bedroom.
The goto are just 385 by 505 mm long They have a 400 to 600 recommended crossover frequency.I will try your crossover. Not that I honestly know what it is but I will study it.If I cant afford the used goto's I might try a wood conical 6 sided home made expo similar size to the goto.

Are they the JA6881B ?
JA6881B or 1829 Djk which is better?.
?Both Ceramic The sweetness of phenolic? verses aluminium and ceramic. Both very different drivers And possibly both requiring very different horns.

Both are nice, but require different horns to sound their best. The Yamaha can go out about an octave higher, and with less fuss in the network.
You might look at the AutoTech Tractrix-350 horn that is about a foot in diameter, you could cross it around 600hz or so. IIRC, the Yamaha requires the standard large Altec bolt circle.

Djk Everywhere I read everyone said they where just aw some until I find a set and then I read there OK but they do have thaaaaat ceramicy sound character to them :| They will used or sold. Both are nice, but require different horns to sound their best.

I am not sure I am guessing you mean the 350 tratric for the Yamaha. Well I have a pair of Jabo 350 in my daughters bedroom. They have 288's bassicly plugged into the ev eliminator crossover with the tweeters wired together. Then a autoformer to T350 with only cap but aimed high. The 288 jabo is very nice and I guess the Yamaha will be too. But they are to big a lip for bedroom if they cant go right up.You will find all this boring I am sure having been there done that. But I really look forward to try different weird and wonderful horns. I interested in screw drivers with simple phasing and expo really slow expansions. Why I don't know. They may be horrible. But in the case of the goto Its lack of lip and 300hz cutt off suitable for 400 to 600. 450 would be nice at only 1/2 metre long and 385mm thats 15 inches can easily fit in my bedroom and inter great a tweeter. This seller in Australia. He will anon but he is the most unreasonable ebayer of choice hifi I have ever come accross. He prices stuff around 3 to 4 times what it might sell at auction and lists it through monthly store at a fixed price. He has had 1500 on the goto's and I have watched them and dreamed of owning my little piece of the exotic goto hifi for 2 years that I know off with out reducing a sent. If you compare the price in eiffle . Not taking into account shipping Eiffle sells them cheaper new.I sent a request for a quote of shipping and perhaps the fact I asked for the cheapest method of shipping they ignored my inquiry completely. 1500 dollars for a pair of horns that need adapters machined that may in fact sound awfully is the sort of thing that drives me nuts. I almost never save up to 1500$ before I blow it on something cheaper. I have a tango trans he wants but he wont discount those horns 20$.
Goto is probably wise not selling them to me because if I like them I would pour plaster of Paris down them or some other suitable molding agent and rap that mold with carbon fibre and a composite of who knows what. And make pairs of 300hz expos. I don't think goto owns the anent of expo flares. Everybody must think I am barking mad by this far down. Everybody must Have Iawata tractrix or klugellwell or lecleach flares with those huge roll overs making them impossible to integrate a tweeter in a small room. I want to try smaller diafragms with long horns. Expo is supposed to have better bass. And possibly more hifrequrncy.

yes :) Not tested them yet. Trying to get a extra as a spare presently.I t is just the horns are soooo big . They will only fit in my lounge. I would guess they might load down to 250 hz! Looking up them. They seem to have a conical throat. That could be the driver not the horn throat. They made of mdf or fiberglass. Not sure yet.As you know they are only good to 10k or something so a tweeter has to be well integrated. N o good for my bedroom at all. BTW I just bought a set of mad coaxes tonite. So cheap I think the seller might back out. They are Sony's! More details with picks tomorrow . They are another incredibly rare driver. And one fram is blown! These baby eliminator tens are driving me nuts. I got a picture. Sure are EV eliminator tens. No specs though :( I just want the bass bin specs!

acousta with cg8t in front of axiom 301. Mid bas horns on top with full range german drivers. They work well to 80hz
