Last night we lost our friend Terry Cain. He passed quietly in his sleep, and we who knew him feel the loss very much.He was a gentle, intelligent and hard working man and could cook a mean paella...even for the likes of our wild bunch. We will always remember and grieve your passing.
Later my friend.

Follow Ups:
R.I.P., Terry. Thanks for all your contributions and touching so many lives.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
Literally. I stood silently week before last, with head bowed, when I first heard about TC. Never met him, but it was a privilege to share the virtual realm with him. Back in the day when I was first taking baby steps on the Full Range Forum. The joy of discovery, of music, in simple, lo-tech and retro gear. Sometimes I'm so overwhelmed with the rich buttery sound carrying the music aloft, I exclaim to no one: uh huh .... that's right, I own the damn frequency!

.If you believe in forever,
Then life is just a one-night stand.
If there's a rock and roll heaven,
well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band.
Jimmy gave us rainbows,
And Janis took a piece of our hearts,
And Otis brought us all to the dock of a bay.
Sing a song to light my fire,
Remember Jim that way,
They've all found another place, another place to play.
Remember bad bad Leroy Brown,
Hey Jimmy touched us with that song.
Time won't change a friend we came to know.
And Bobby gave us Mack the Knife,
Well look out, he's back in town.
They'll all be there together
When they meet in one big show.
There's a spotlight waiting
No matter who you are
Cuz everybody's got a song to sing,
Everyone's a star
Everybody's got to be a star
I've been an e-buddy to Terry in the past, when he was starting out on his fullrange journey, and no idea that he was that unwell.Rest quietly, and well my friend, 'til we meet again.
I'm afraid that I can only echo what all others have said already in response to some very sad news:I admired Terry for his relentless dedication to a craft -- which he ultimately transformed into an art.
I appreciated Terry's concern for those of us who might not have had five figures to spend on a loudspeaker system.
I respected Terry for carrying such high personal and professional standards -- even (particularly?) during trying circumstances.
I envied Terry for finding his true calling: whether it made him rich or poor, popular or a bit of an outsider.
Most of all, I liked Terry for making people (including myself) just plain happy.
And I regret not telling him these -- and so many other -- things while I still had the chance.
Now, I can only imagine (given the breadth of personalities regularly on display in this forum) our wide variety of views regarding the afterlife. Even still, I feel compelled to regale you with mine, which say that Terry built up such an admirable store of good merit over such a long time (despite his untimely passing), that he must now be in a very, very good place. I just hope that he's as happy as he made all of us....

Terry and I would always communicate at shows. He would always have a good technical question for me which showed that he was looking at the next step. His speaker designs will leave a very lasting legacy. It's sad to hear about another friend in our fraternity that has left us. Bruce

Condolences to his family and friends. No doubt he meant a lot of wonderful things to a lot of people. For me, although I never knew him except via the ether and www, he will forever be associated with all that was fun and good about the resurgence of great audio in the home at the turn of the millenium and beyond.Light and Love, Terry.
Big J.
TC!
We will miss you so much!... with your big heart, humorous wit and art spirit. I picture you listening to Paulo Conte with a delicious glass of port and a big smile.Thank you Terry for your generosity and comraderie.
Ciao for now my friend.
Jay
...his comments here were always honest, inteligent, direct, and thoughtfull with no fear of being controversial. In short, someone I would have liked to have as friend. At least I have the fortune to have some great examples of his craftsmanship in my living room. I am still smiling everytime I look at them and even more when listening.
My deepest sympathy to all his family and his friends.
Rene

From that I could tell he was a good man, really a special person.Terry also had super audio skills as I have the Abbys and I know.
Terry developed 'classic' speakers in our generation of audiophiles which can compete with the best of the past.
In the picture, he looked like a young man. He was likely to offer so much more to the reproduction of sound.
I can feel the loss of Terry even though I never met him.
I've only known Terry for about 3 years and just by way of a few phone calls and e-mails. He was such a good spirit that I feel I've lost a good friend.
Rest In Peace.

My first encounter with Terry Cain came 2 years ago when we e-mailed for several days about the upcoming release of the Fostex FE 166 ES-R limited edition driver. Terry was very kind and always eager to answer my questions however elementary they were. I couldn't afford to have terry build the cabinets but that didn't stop him from answering my e-mails always going above and beyond my expectations with his insightful and easy going style. He helped me tweak the placement of my speakers and gave me a lot of support and asked for nothing from me. Terry you are a true gentleman a class act and you will be missed very much by the entire audiophile community.
I hope you and Harvey Gizmo are having a few cold ones and enjoying some great music on some big horn speakers right now.
Goodbye old friend, we're gonna miss you.JC
Sure sorry to hear of Terry's passing; he was a super guy. I'll always be grateful that he drove around to find me on that windy night in Poulsbo. Wish I had gotten to know him better.
Such a great, caring, man. Passionate about everything and always willing to help.I am honored to have known him for even short second.
"Shine on you crazy diamond".
yeah.. I miss him... definitely one of the good guys.. I think Tom's word "instigator" was appropriate... Terry was sorely missed at this year's RMAF.. a giant chasm where his room was supposed to be... I will never forget a couple of years ago at RMAF... Josh demo'd his "cd tweak" and terry and I had to be seperated because we were rolling laughing and couldn't stop.. I had tears streaming down my cheeks... my stomach hurt from the laughing... .. ... and all the while there was a serious demo going on... the listeners in the chairs staring at us... terry could have cared less.. it was the comaraderie that mattered to him...rest in peace brother terry... and may the great spirit be with the incredible Ms Leslie....
I think I will crank some Violent Femmes at "11" in his honor next year...
A great guy, he will be sorely missed. He was a great artisan and music lover and shared some innovative new ideas with the rest of us. I am honored to have known him. He was an inspiration in so many ways.God bless and best wishes to his family.
It is sad when a member of the saw dust fraternity passes away, even more so when he was an “instigator” who helped others find good sound.
My condolences to his family and friends.
Best,Tom Danley
Find the Light Terry. Lets hope that we can help Leslie and the family out now. It is a new beginning now a new adventure. A Spirit like Terry's can only soar. So many people touched in a life time. Well done.
To Leslie please accept my sympathy in your loss. Moray James Campbell.

Rest in peace Terry.
One of the good guys.
Think of how many people he touched in the high efficiency speaker world. He practically did it single handed. My condolences to his family and friends.
Terry lived life to the fullest. The fact that his LP collection included approximately one hundred copies of Herb Alpert's "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" always made me smile
:-)You will be missed my friend - our love and condolences to Leslie.
RIP dear Terry.
