I discarded the Klipsch crossovers, built new ones (MIT caps, OFHC air core inductors & Kimber internal wiring, added a notch filter & zobel filter), plus damping absorption at sides of woofer box, clay damping of midrange horn exterior. Result: vastly improved soundstage, very smooth midrange, clearer imageing. Cost: about $500 in parts.Gardiner

For internal wiring I used Kimber TCX for the midrange & tweeter & stripped down Audioquest Midnight for the bass, and TCX for the point to point wiring in the crossovers. TCX is a teflon insulated single bundle of 15ga uninsulated 5/9 copper wires. The Audioquest is 24 strand solid core litz, spiral wrapped around a large core. I removed 12 strands and twisted them into a cable for the connection from crossover to woofer.I built each crossover in 2 sections, 1 for bass and 1 for midrange/treble, with separate speaker connectors. Then I biwired with Kimber 4TC from Welbourne Laurel 300B amps.
Hope this helps,
Gardiner
