I know we have debated this before but I still think some of those 50's and 60's recordings have a more realistic feel of a live concert than anything I have heard since. But again I only listen totwo channel plus I was doing recording in the 60's so I am biased about using all tube equipment.

To each his or her own, of course. But, I am completely with Robert Lang on this. Some 50's - 60's recordings are very fine, and I started my audiophile pursuit and record collecting back then. They are still sentimental favorites, and they sound even better remastered in hi rez, IMHO. But, I was not prepared for the huge step forward I experienced 5 years ago when I discovered hi Rez Mch. It changed my life as an audiophile like nothing else has, using the standard of live concert hall sound as a reference.
Even so, you owe it to yourself to listen to those golden oldies that were recorded in 3 channel in that mode if you can. To say that they are obviously better that way is almost an understatement.
