In Reply to: SCD-1 sled motor. posted by sser2 on April 14, 2007 at 17:34:25
I have been in contact with Kysan Electronics, they tell me they have 400 Mabuchi RF-300CH 11400 motors instock here in the USA.
Can anyone verify they are in fact the direct replacement to the out of stock Sony sled motors for the SCD-1/777 models?
If they are, maybe we can come up with enough interest to do a group buy, as they have a minimum $ requirement for all orders. Anyone in?
Follow Ups:
I have a limited supply of RF-300CH 11400 motors available for $6.00 each plus shipping and I plan to order more shortly if interest warrants it. (The first lot is basically sold out. I have just 3 left for sale.) These are sans gears, and sleds. Just motors. These are new production items I had built to order.
Email me directly if interested.
You will need to devise some sort of gear puller in order to remove the gear from the old motor.
I've sold out on this lot of motors. Let me know if there is any interest and I will order more. Turn around time is pretty quick. Again this is the RF-300CH 11400.. (motor only)
I may be able to source some other motors as well. Let me know and I will investigate.

I just checked at the Kysan website and the RF-300CH 11400 is in stock. I'm looking for a few other people to go in with me to reach their $100 minimum order.I need 10 for me and my friends. Any others care to join? Ultimately if not I will eventually buy the minimum and sell them on a case by case basis, but I'd prefer to go in knowing at least some of these are sold.
Something to bear in mind here, this is just the motor, not the entire assembly with motor, board, stamped chassis, gear, and shafts. This is part of the reason why these motors are cheap and the Sony part is not. You will need to remove the existing gear from your old motor (carefully) for reuse, and install this motor in the existing assembly.
Note that the mechanism is identical in the SCD-1 and SCD-777ES and this motor may be used in either.
Paypal will be fine for payment. Let me know if you are interested.
Haven't heard back from him for quite alwhile...

Got in touch with the supplier in CA. He did indeed have them in stock and very nicely offer to send me only 2 units per my request even though there is a min order requirement. I explained to him I was an end user and had no need to buy bulk, he graciously offer to just send the 2 out. A very nice guy!It has been reported on this site that Sony is carrying this part in stock for repairs to units in for service but no longer offers it on it's parts web site. At under $2 a pop, I couldn't resist to get a couple to put away just in case.
