to come across dealer ads where a "used" component, out of my budget, and which I can only drool over, is pictured tucked in amongst other items like an elephant graveyard. Not hooked up. Not featured in a sound room. Just "out in back" with a bunch of stuff. Originally retailing for $12,000. Trade in, selling for $6,000. Maybe "breaking my heart" is not the right phrase. Just a long "sigh... ". I guess it's not unusual to see this with price ranges what they are.
Cheers!

Follow Ups:
sometimes they may even have something wrong with the equipment.
I bought a lot of demo equipment in my day. It's a mixed bag as well.
Some dealers/retailers have zero respect for the gear.
Yeah I can dream of owning some uber money audio toys.
I do not care if they have a bad life.
Like the mythical hard life of the 'poor little rich girl'? They get used then thrown away...
IMO that's life.
I have run into great expensive gear at a nice price. So I am happy somebody wealthier than I tried it and decided to dump it, without wanting an arm and a leg for it!

Some people don't care how something is presented. But if you make an effort with presentation, you will appeal to many more people than than if you don't make an effort.
And price has dropped $1,500. Guess the dealer just wants to move it out of there.
You're right about presentation. It applies to all things. I even recall the many yard sales we had getting rid of things the kids were growing out of. We would place items, like small toys, in clear zip lock bags and were able to price much higher and sell without haggling. Marketing!
Cheers!
