What can be done now? I had 2 addresses on file at parts-express.com - for the first time ever, I skipped paypal and did a credit card directly, I was used to paypal address confirmation post-order but I guess I completely missed the pre-order address display whilst I was reviewing my cart. The second the order completed and I hadn't "noticed" an address, I sent an email to them explaining the situation - got just this in response =>
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Parts Express. I'm sorry the order has already shipped. It ships to the address that is entered on the order. This is the shipping address that was on the order:(wrong address here)
We appreciate your business. Please let us know if we may be of additional assistance.

BeverlyGiven that I sent the email immediately and the order had 6 items, I find it hard to believe the box had left the building by time they replied 2 hours later - but if so they're very fast I'll give them that. Will I have any luck getting UPS to intercept? Would it not be only the shipping agency that could retract it? So far, looks like someone's gonna get a lot of free stuff - only $150 worth, but still.
If UPS is doing their job I suppose they SHOULD ask for ID - and if not provided - bounce the delivery???

I kinda wondered if posting on AA would get someone off their butts over there - who knows, I've always had good experiences with PE - but like paypal, you really don't know how they will treat you until things go wrong.
Got a different person today - they had contacted UPS and asked that the package be held at my local UPS station for pickup where I could provide identification - so it appears all is well. Am awaiting confirmation this is to happen but will assume so from here on in.
Solved by the power of AA? Who knows, but just in case it was time to donate another $100 anyway (and yes I checked my address). If you've had a problem mysteriously solved at the same time you were posting about it on AA, I'd challenge you to donate $50 just in case!

Glad to hear the problem you had solved by the way--Kudos!

Around these parts, whenever one of our local pols gets caught with a prostitute, they claim to have found religion!
Have you tried to contact UPS? I would try that. By phone if possible... After all you have the UPS tracking number for the package.... They may work with you and hold the package at some point in the shipping route, hopefully somewhere where you now live, and require you to pick up the package in person. I would imagine UPS will require you to show a valid ID as well as the purchase invoice from Parts Express.

Customer service through email depends too much on when
they get around to reading them. And who reads them. They probably pulled up your order and saw it was processed. My guess is they first read it minutes before they replied.
A phone call you will usually be able to talk to someone immediately.
It is a lot harder for a business built on customer service to blow you off on the phone. Stopping payment on CC is a little drastic, as this is your mistake.
And hey, you may get lucky and the wrong receiver will reject it or return it. Did you live at the old address?
Agree - should have called. I won't stop payment, I'll see how this plays out - but they're shoulder shrug response did piss me off given that it was the same business day they got my email - hell, it was just over an hour later. It would have been harder for them to tell me to piss off on the phone.I did live at the old address - but it's renters there now who don't know me at all. I'm sure they'd be co-operative - well, you never know I guess.
It's an interesting situation - if UPS hands it over, I would then say it was PE's responsibility as they hired UPS. They can go ahead and sue UPS if they want, and give me back my cash. What will likely happen is UPS will not hand it over, it will travel aaaaaaall the way back across 2 countries and customs - and then will have to be re-shipped at expense to me. It was my mistake - I doubt they'll be asking for a restocking fee or anything crazy.
I will call UPS tomorrow to see if PE could do anything about it - I strongly suspect they still COULD - I would have certainly thought they could have during business hours today - but it moved on from the UPS pickup location tonight towards a useless journey...

UPS offers you the opportunity to have the parcel held at their last depot before delivery, where you may pick up the parcel rather than have it delivered. It seems to me, at that point you should be able to have the package rerouted to the correct address.
Worse case: the order will not be delivered to the wrong recipient.

From what I read, you contacted them within a few hours of order. And the responded back in 2 hours of your message.
So they claim the box was 'gone'? BS.
I say reverse the charge on your CC. with the timing. Any normal person could stop an order in a few hours. So IMO the company/ person is handing you BS and they just were refusing to cancel due to policy, or laziness.
So again just cancel the charge via your CC.
Actually I emailed the very second the order was confirmed - when I realized I hadn't seen an address (it was there, just not where I was used to).I emailed the alarm at 12:52 and they replied that "the box had left" at 2:19 - so yeah, apparently 6 different items were boxed AND left the building in barely over one hour. I found that hard to believe - but it is apparently at UPS tonight as it's UPS status changed. Gotta give them credit for knowing the impatience of audiophiles - I would have phoned if I had any idea things could be gathered and shipped THAT fast
Personally, I suspect laziness - I mean really, it's hard to believe nothing could be done during the same business hours the package left the building. What disappointed me more was what I perceive as a "shoulder shrug" - I mean, they could have said "not to worry it will be refused at delivery and returned then we will re-ship" or something - any kind of guidance - I mean this has to have happened before.
Instead, I'm going to see how they reply to me tomorrow - when I got the 2:19 email I replied with an "ok so what happens now" asking for some guidance - let's see if someone had a bad day and can make up some ground tomorrow. Not impressed, but I'll give them every chance.

Yup, just can't do nuthin I guess.PE emailed me at 2:19 PST with a shoulder shrug (or at least that's when I got the email - could have been emailed sooner) - presumably 5:19 their time at the latest.
Package was scanned as "Origin Scan" at UPS tonight - so it was probably out the PE door when they emailed. Still seems hard to believe nothing could be done while we all watch this poor package travel a couple thousand miles across 2 countries and a bit of ocean to my old address. Kinda funny really - sure glad it's only a $150 order. Let's sit back and see what happens...

that are addressed to you.

I figured if I signed up that might be possible - but surely UPS would have to take the time to verify my address somehow, which I presume would be by mailing something with a code I would reply with on their website. Would be too late by then.

My wife did the same thing with an Amazon order and Amazon (as the shipper) ammended the address with either UPS or FedEx (forget which).
Would not have thought such possible with a big company like Amazon, but she called them up and they got right on it.
I will definitely do that - but they already got my email and said - sorry, it's been shipped. They were closed when I dialed today - but will be on it. This is essentially my confusion - I find it hard to believe nothing can be done at this point (UPS tracking says only "label created") before my box of new items ships across the US and Canada! I would at least have expected some guidance in the response email, the mistake was mine true - but it can't be like this hasn't happened before.

arrived with a paste over sticker with the correct address.
However, the goods were of an extremely important nature as I recall (most likely Cat Food and/or under garments;-), so considering that they may have pulled out all the stops to expedite the ship to change.
At the time of our request the items had already shipped and were being processed through the various sorting locations enroute.
Good luck.
"Label created" means that the shipper cut the label and the package is ready for shipping. It may or may not have been picked up. That data doesn't get updated usually until the driver drops it off at UPS and it's scanned. If it shows up with tracking info later tonight, then it's at UPS. If not, it may still be at Parts Express and they may be able to fix it if you call at 8AM their time tomorrow.

Why not contact the people that now live at your old residence? Tell them you screwed up and forgot to change the address at Parts Express to your new address. Just say you haven't bought anything from them since you used to live there. You screwed up.As for contacting UPS, Parts Express would have to contact them. Parts Express hired them to ship the package.

Yeah, I might do that - I don't want to put them out (they're renters and not even the people I sold to) but they'll be put out either way. Embarrassing as hell though.
I checked the online tracking - UPS says only "label created" at this point - seems like there should still be some hope - but as parts express offered no guidance in their response, embarrassment might be the last resort.
