...back when I was reviewing audio equipment I didn't have much time to hear other audiophile's systems. But I had a neighbor down the street who heard I was an audiophile and invited me over to hear his system.
It was Wilson MAXX speakers driven by big top of the line Krell mono amps and electronics in his dedicated upstairs bedroom/listening room.
CDs sounded impressive and dynamic but a little too etched for my taste.
What impressed me the most were a few LPs he played on his VPI turntable with a Van den Hul Grasshopper cartridge - very musical and relaxed with a big image that hung in the air.

Wow, what a neighborhood.
Cheers

...I asked him how he got those big heavy speakers up his stairs.
He said he had help.
Hmm, a neighbor willing to sacrifice his back to help an audiophile carry heavy stuff upstairs. Where do you live mk?
Best Wishes
Bill
Not me. He got them up before I met him.
I'm in the East SF Bay Area.
Well, Phil Collins lives down the street, but musicians are the worst audiophiles... plus he never answers his door. Or responds to my notes...or letters or that sweet sweet effigy I made.
