here's my humble setup.
lots of changes recently, new DAC, music streaming transport and amp :)

Really beautiful pics! All.
Nice setup ......
So far I have seen some nice systems in this thread, I'm on a 3 week business trip in central Germany. When I get home I'm gonna take some pics of my system and post them here. In the mean time I'm gonna spend my weekend in Hamburg, north Germany.
From this last January.
I keep moving stuff around, all photos are obsolete, yet somehow current. Constant work in progress.
Here's a photo of the back side:
Cable management is a necessary part of this hobby. Using that tall rack I find it helpful to tie-off cables from overhead to hang them so that the signal cables do not get too close to the power cables....and that when they do they are not running parallel. Etc. etc.
More system photos at link below.
Really great pics- guys!
almost there....
these are NOT the old Counterpoint amps....

Nice, and right next to your listening room, there's a library where you can check things out! :)
Here's my downstairs listening room, which is more or less dedicated to music listening and dancing with my daughter.
And here is a picture taken with a wide lens, which lets you see more but distorts the length of the room.
Speakers are 8 feet apart and 8 feet from the listening position. You can see the subwoofers and the sofa where we listen from. It doesn't appear so in the pic, but the subs are 6 feet from the listening position. The edge of a dart board can be seen in the upper right. There was a white board next to it which had just fallen down and you can see the adhesive on the wall.
The fabric on the walls and ceiling conceals a mix of absorbers, diffusors, and wide band bass trapping. On the left and right sides of the ceiling are sealed Helmholtz resonator type bass traps. There's more of that behind the picture frames on the front wall. The wooden boards up front are designed to be tuned slat resonators but they don't actually do much, behind them are wideband membrane traps. The door behind the right speaker is also designed as a bass trap, to offset the corner trap being deeper on the left than the right. Sadly, I don't have a rear facing shot to show the listening position, rear room treatment, or left wall treatment.
i swear, with these speakers, you can save yourself thousands on source and amplifiers......
And mine. I just got the Rogue Sphinx and Gustard X12 DAC. A modest system but I feel very fortunate that I have what I do. The only thing I need are no neighbors.

Very nicely done. Treated room, tubes and stats!
Thanks,
Stay tuned- I will post in the next while in the appropriate forums some (hopefully) major changes to the Beveridges that will take them up a few notches.... it has taken quite some time and I hope things turn out as planned.
Still lots to do in the room itself with other treatments... about a year ago it looked like this!:
Beautiful system/room. May I ask what kind of speakers?
The speakers I am using right now are Beveridge Model 3 electrostatics.
Blast from the past- early 1980's. They do a few things that even modern speakers have trouble with now.
Thanks..
I'd take a main system pic, but too much clutter around for now....

Still enjoying your ARC/Pass Labs combo?
I'm enjoying my Schiit Gungnir Multibit DAC too.
I'd be interested in hearing a very nice balanced tube preamp but I think any that would be close to affordable for me. Meanwhile the ARC LS9 is very clean and neutral
Also I continue to enjoy the Maggie 1.6's. The downside there is that they take up a lot room in the smallish living room where my stereo system is located. I've been toying with the idea of building a pair of Zaph Audio 'ZRT' (Zaph Revelator Tower) speakers; see link below. I'd likely build the 2 way, closed-box version. All parts except the cabinets are available from Madisound.

Marty,s system.
Really good stuff, isn't it? Is that an Ohio Class base? Interestingly, yours is the second analog setup in a month I've seen that uses SRA under the 'table. Have you noticed a big difference?Nice room and setup, BTW!
Edits: 04/23/16
...I particularly like the paint job on the Room Lenses to make them blend into the room.
The SRA is made special for Verdier table, yes it does sound good.

Nice setup; q: which Maggies are those in the corner?
the MMGs with wooden stands. Some carpenter on ebay was making them for awhile.
This is the best I could manage without a second cup of coffee. :)
The system has been stable for a long time now. At least long by my past standard. While far from perfect, it satisfies me on a curiously deep level.

I checked out your rig in Inmate Systems, and I really dig it. You use a lot of the same tweaks I use or have used. And that EVS amp is pretty sweet!

of the same thing, so didn't bother.

Temporary setup just after I moved. Speakers repositioned and the gear is no longer on the floor but the components remain the same.
Now, i know how to set up my Tonians! Thanks
I'm sure you already know. I ended up moving them out farther from the wall to about 12 inches and I moved them farther apart from each other. Of course it always pays to experiment as no two rooms sound the same.
Mine are a wee bit more radical, which may be because one side wall has reinforcement, while the other is completely open. Mine are about 2M apart because my space is small.
here you go

You are correct. Monitor 4's to be exact. Circa 1979. The servo-charge amps have been seriously rebuilt. The panels on the other hand are as they were 37 years ago.
Wired stators , love it .... :)

I have a "better" system, but it is rarely used.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
My first exposure to "hi-fi" was via ADS L420s and a Yamaha integrated amp (1978).
Your "better " system doesn't exist without pictures....
That picture is what I refer to as pre-divorce. Since then the SP-15, the headphone amp and the cans have been sold.
The SP-15 was replaced by an SL-1200 and a Micromega Stage III CD player.
I spent SO much time in that room during the divorce (with my wife upstairs) that I don't use it much anymore.
That will change ...its a nice sounding system.

I've always liked the look of Yamaha equipment, and the new stuff they are putting out doesn't disappoint at all. Very nice.

mkuller-
I really like your room and room treatments. Regarding your CD rack, did you build yourself?
...no I ordered it from somewhere in the early 1990s when my CD collection was getting big.
When I built the first house in 1991 I had the guy who built the cabinets and bookshelves for the house finish it in the light oak so it matched the bookshelves - which I put on the back wall when I moved here.
My contractor built and spray stained my CD cabinet in his shop and inserted it in a space left for that purpose in the wall upon completion of the dedicated room.
I designed the entire unit along with the room plans. The adjustable shelves are 3/4" solid oak with an additional 1/2" shelf on top of each one for strength without the necessity of any reinforcement.
House13-
really digging your CD rack!
...mine is pretty simple.
Nice Thiel speakers.

I really like the look of your equipment racks. Did you make them yourself? Can you share any construction details such as type of wood?
Sent you. An email I bought it from Timbernation it's hard maple. He built to my specs and delivered within 3 weeks
Got it! Thanks for the information.
Hard to tell in the picture, but to accommodate room, none of the toe ins or distances from back or side walls are equal. After years of obsessing with symmetrical measurements, one day I threw away the measuring tape, moved them around and just listened. Perfecto!
Cheers!

"I know just enough to get into trouble. But not enough to get out of it."
Had a couple of kids over the past 3 years so this is more or less my main system. Used primarily for elmo dvd's at this point. Stands built by me in probably less than 2 hours at the tail end of a weekend long project of more practical use. Setup is obviously hilarious but this is still a really good system.
;-)
It's an amazing tweak. The results are measurable and repeatable.
What amplifiers ....... ?
ATC P4, the speakers are a custom version of the ATC 110 ASL that were built for an orchestra to use as part of a portable stage setup. I ran across them in a classified ad and knew they were the perfect speakers for small children. They're already beat up and the grills are metal so it would be very difficult for a kid to do any significant damage.
Nice pics! guys.

I love he symmetry of this. Well done.
Keep it simple we just moved and while not ideal I am getting better results in a smaller room than I was in my old room. Not quite clean and not as fancy as some other ones, lots of time involved on research but very little cash spent. I am very happy with what I am hearing.
Yes those are vintage 6 foot across aluminium light fixtures with a 4" dayton audio full range point source driver. Running all silver coated copper interconnects ala Kimber Kable (4 braided for speakers and 3 braided for rca interconnects cables)
Room treatment done by 4 4x4 spagetti type tiles and a antique rug.
Electronics are a NAD 725BEE receiver connected to a Dell Desktop with an Asux Xonar Essence STX running Daphile with silver coated copper interconnects. A Furman power conditioner cleans up the power going in.
And when you're not listening to music you can pickup alien life forms with those pointed toward outer space!
Would love to know what those light fixtures sound like.
Are they conical or bowl shaped?
They are a more of a saucer with about 6" of rise from the edge to the middle. I currently run them with a motor start capacitor based on a crossover of 130hz. When I hooked them up they did exactly the opposite of what I thought the capacitor would do instead of stopping all frequencies below 130hz it made them a very full range, but will handle very little wattage I am guessing 1 or 2 watts max. When the capacitors are not being used I digitally cross them over at 130hz and run a sub to fill in the bottom. As far as the sound they sound amazingly clear. I don't get into all of that mumbo jumbo about soundstage anything, they are just amazingly clear and crisp. They lack in bass (obviously) but what they do have is very natural sounding. If you are ever close to Lincoln, Nebraska send me an email and bring some cd's that you love and if you drink I will provide the beer.
:)
I applaud your sense of adventurism.
There is no beer in food, but there is food in beer.
I am a big fan of Daphile, I run it too. I reached out to the developer to ask him if he would take a donation, I don't think he cares about money.

Nice system! How do you like the Arcam A19? I just bought a pr of Arcam FMJ p-35 amps for $600pr. Unfortunately, I just had hip replacement surgery and can't sit in my listening seat til probably the end of the month, so I'm dying to hear how they sound! I have them hooked up (one per speaker), but its tough to get a clear reading on them due to my situation. They have replaced my B&K 200wpc amp.
Harley! Sorry to hear about your hip, but I'm sure it'll heal quick. My brother had it done and he got better real quick-like. Hope all is good with you! I have nothing to add to this string of posts, sorry all. :)
Really, great pics!
Damn. I'm just a wee putz.
You guys keep posting those pics!
Harley, Thank you. I wish you a quick, full recovery. I believe you're in for a treat win you get in front of your system with the Arcam P-35s running.I really like my A19. It has a very even presentation to the music with excellent tone. There is abundant detail and resolution with fantastic layering of the music. Vocals have an almost SET tube amp like presence to them and it's a rhythm monster.
I hope you find much enjoyment with your P-35s.
