Forget the Mercedes Benz or asking Alice, I want a kickass stereo!
I spent $100k quite easily flipping thru the pages...

I love receiving this catalog every year ! Like an early Xmass present !
...but in all black. If anyone wants to buy one for me for Christmas, I'll send you my address. ;-)
After adding up a tubed Bat setup in silver-linestage,phono and blocs, the BLACK AMEX
is just starting to get warm! This is all of the SE models ,naturally.
Still need maybe some Nodost Odin cables and speakers.
We haven't even thought about sources yet!
Thank You Music Direct. You have gone the extra mile in creating a World Class catalog and I'm sure the expense must be major. I'm very grateful.
Uncanny,
I was just thinking about the newest catalog from MD and AS.
I will order mines now.
...a catalog that thick has to cost a lot to produce and mail.
Is this their last hurrah?
So far, I have SHM-CDs of this, Ride The Lightning , ...And Justice For All , Metallica , and Load . They are cleaner-sounding than their cassette, standard CD, vinyl, and gold CD counterparts.
The SHM-CD of Kill 'Em All does not have "Am I Evil?" and "Blitzkrieg." If you want those two songs on SHM-CD, you will have to get Garage Inc.

Nice pic! Lummy.
Wow! Can't say I'm a Metallica listener, but it looks.......LOUD. I've never been to anyone's house and the volume is low.
Maybe my MD catalog will arrive in tomorrow's mail. I wish they had the Hi-Fi Tuning Silver Star fuse in the right rating for the Simaudio 750D, which I have been reviewing. The 750D's transport gently rolls of the treble. Therefore, maybe it could use the HFT Silver Star's supposed treble presence.
I'm also expecting some more SHM-CD and BSCD2 titles to arrive. I refer to these as "boutique" CDs. The great thing about these is that they are available for popular music titles. That is, music people actually want and enjoy. If you go over to Rocky Road, you'll find some of my capsule reviews showing these boutique CDs.
In general, the SHM-CD and BSCD2 formats have lower distortion and grain. The cleaner sound allows you to hear more deeply into the recording, regardless of the volume level you are comfortable with.
Yes I did, great catalog! That is a keeper ...
I regret throwing the Paul issue out! List yours and I'll buy it for....postage!!!
Which is the more interesting, the cover or the tubes?
Hah! Yes a diagnosis for staring at this confirms severe audio freak neurosis.
Spent the first five minutes staring at the cover photo. What a great shot of Grace and Janis.
x
"What a great shot of Grace and Janis. "
+1; from a photographic standpoint, this is just an exceptional photo. to say nothing of documenting a bit of music history from the era.
Agree - it's definitely a keeper

Grace looks gorgeous in this photo. Janis has never looked prettier from what I've seen.
See ya. Dave
+2
Great cover! I love MD's catalogs.
MD's cover choices are great. Fast forward 48 years and those among us with kids would have the equivalent of 2 absolutely silly, ex Disney/rap star tattooed and pierced showing off their "grill"
This issue cover is the best of the last 5 or so I've been receiving. I would like to see a cover with both Jimmy/Jimi and quite a few others.
"Spent the first.." I know what you mean Powerful pic. Probably not meant to be, but just a mesmerizing photo.
What was disappointing is MD not listing Nordost Odin II, Only the cheap Valhalla is listed!
I can't stomach past my nearly Heimdall II rig.
I got these from the post office-took them out of the cheap plastic frames & had a 'real' frame shop put this together.
very cool and better yet as a project worthy of displaying in the listening room.
I've done the same thing with album covers. Amazing what a nice color matting job does.
