It is ranked #39 on VH1's 100 greatest songs of the 80's and #7 on VH1's 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the 80s.

Is one of my favorite one bit pop tunes, but I have posted it before. Trying not to repeat.
...Modern English's killer "Ink And Paper!"
At the end of the Spring '86 semester, my high school did a so-called self-scheduling day. The students got to choose the next semester's classes. It was organized by last name. I was almost last, so I got a crappy schedule, crappy teachers, crappy classes.
But anyway, as we were called first into the auditorium, most of us were seated. One girl in a thin white sweater had a colorful Walkman. She got up from her seat, and just started boogie-ing to Modern English's "Ink And Paper." She even got 3-4 of her friends to join her. They energetically danced -- right there in the row of seats. Hey, if you're going to pick last, you might as well have fun!
In all my years of being in audio, we audiophiles have never done anything remotely as spontaneous and fun as my schoolmates dancing in the auditorium seats to Modern English's "Ink And Paper."
If you ever get to be DJ, playing "Ink And Paper" always gets the crowd jumping!
"I Melt with You" became an 80's (and beyond) earworm that many of us couldn't get out of our heads. It got so much air play and was even used as background music in a few commercials.
