These days I just play the music I like. So no Diana Krull or Patricia Barber... I've got to be able to stay in a good mood through the entire show, listening to music. So I tend to avoid the dreck, which is to say about 80% of all 'audiophile' selections.
We do have female vocals though if someone wants to hear them, just not those artists. And we will play whatever a person brings in.
Having been a kid in the 1970s, I play King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer and who knows what. If I play bands like that, I like to have the original vinyl from the country of origin- it just sounds better.

By not playing what I call 'audiophile special effects' music? Mostly that stuff that no one truly enjoys as 'music' but the stuff you play so audiophiles can listen to the equipment. ;-)
.
'Take a Pebble' from their first self-titled LP. I usually bring a Pink Island edition, which sounds a bit more lively than the US press...
Funny you should mention that( Take a Pebble). In talking to the presenter in the VPI/Joseph room ,I suggested that song as a good example of wide dynamic range. I was on my way down the hall on the next floor down and heard that coming from one of the rooms. I went in to see what was up and compliment them on their choice. After about 30 seconds the presenter changed the music , so I left.
enjoy,

LOL Ralph, King Crimson is good room clearing music, best on the last day when you want to pack-up early ..
Regards..
I would play most of side one of 'Islands' which is really well recorded, and sounds kinda jazzy at first.
