I'll be in Cupertino briefly next week for the Hot Chips symposium, among other things I need to do while I'm out there.
Any 'walk in' audio retail stores worth visiting in or near Cupertino during the week? By 'walk-in' I mean no appointment necessary because I'm not sure when I'll be free to goof off. I'm looking for a store that is open during the week. I'm not shopping for vinyl. I just want to see and maybe hear some 'high-end' audio hardware in the silicon valley area. I won't have time to make it up to SF. Thx!

I also recommend The Analog Room. Their address is:
1416 Fruitdale Avenue
San Jose, Ca 95128408.971.6158
The building is very, very hard to find. There is no sign on the building so I suggest you look at a map before you visit them. There is parking in from of the store so that is not a problem.
Brian (owner) is very knowledgable and helpful. Their web site not working so it is best to call if you have questions. I believe he opens at 11am. He speciality is analog but he is very helpful with every thing else. The Analog Room is a must visit. Please let us know about your visit.
...Future Sound in Palo Alto which took over the famous Audible Difference although now they seem to focus more on home theater.
I third the Analog Room (their web site was hacked, but they are still around). I would also suggest Audio High in Mountain View, especially if Yevgeny is around.
Hmm, so far I see three votes for the Analog Room. I lived in Mountain View off Shoreline and Middlefield Rd in the early 1990's, and worked for Silicon Graphics in the building that is now the Computer History Museum (101 & Shoreline). I'll have to check out Audio High as well. Thanks!

Abe-
tell us which shop(s) you visited and feel free to post pics!
Second The Analog Room
The Analog Room in nearby San Jose would be worth a visit.
Non-descrip brown building, no sign out front.
Not finding their website right now, link to info
Have fun
