Haven't seen The Cat in years, understand he's put on a bit of weight.

My cat's 19 years old and I met Romy at CES in the early 2000's, well after she was named.
...the one in the gif typing on the keyboard with the wig.
So what was Romy like in person?
Romy is actually one of the nicest people I have met. He is lively, funny and interesting as hell.
I like what he has to say which might make a difference - I certainly had no reason to be confrontational. In fact, I readily admit I am in awe of his knowledge and abilities.
I wish I could have stayed and listened and talked to him much longer than I did But my go-between had to leave and I was in his car.
I have said and continue to say his speaker assemblage is the most sophisticated set-up I have ever seen and heard. Unfortunately when I was there he was still working out the new house and room and the system was not working anywhere near where he wanted it. Most of the time I had to listen in mono but even then one could hear the greatness in his concept. I would love to hear it now but Boston is so far away from Atlanta and I have not had the opportunity to be in the NE.
A singular statement of how audio should be presented. The amplifiers of his design driving each individual driver, tuned to each driver and then voiced to sound like one big cohesive system - it is quite an accomplishment. One would think such a complicated system could sound like what it appears to be - usually complicated systems sound disjointed and are made to just get loud. Romy gave himself the most difficult problem to solve and I could hear he had figured it out. I can't imagine how good it sounds now.
The amplifiers for the subs are not his design; they were not when I was there. He was using SONY v-fet amps for that.
I guess I got lucky and Romy liked me? All I know is that the Romy of AA legend was nothing like the Romy I met. The fellow knows his stuff and deserves respect and as the old phrase goes - no fool is suffered. I guess I kept my mouth shut when I did not know what I was talking about. Always a good idea.
I had my share of conflict with Romy the Cat back in the day, and have been a target of his over the years.I always appreciated the entertainment value of Romy, and that his intolerance was balanced by his knowledge to a degree. no doubt a very smart guy.
i'm told Romy recently got married and has 'evolved' into a 'less conflictual oriented' personage. love can change people evidently.

SH forum is an excellent resource for Music. Too bad it is over-run by communist practices!
Yes and SH changes his opinions like the weather, I do not believe a word of his if you follow him you will lose a lot of dough.

sorry i didn't mention the SH forum. i haven't spent much time there, perhaps due to the reputation of it for its aggressive users. maybe i will have to join the fray.

But also very informed on the classical music side and just as opinionated about that as about equipment.
