This photo is a dust bunny view of my newly installed dedicated 20 amp (12 gauge) floor mounted outlet (left). The main Pangea cable plugs directly into it as does the semi-home made triple adapter. Lesser cables plug into the adapter.

...but I would consult a local electrical code authority on that installation.
If your house burns down and that plug is anywhere near the center of it, your insurance company may not cover you if there were electrical code violations.

I have NEVER heard or read of a single instance of an audiophile cord being the center of a failed insurance claim.
I was talking about the receptacle, not the cords. Code violations are a bad idea, and I think that might be one. If a code violation is the source of a fire, I would bet good money the insurance company, if privy to this information, would not pay out.
Homeowners can do their own electrical work here in Canada but the work is supposed to be inspected and meet the latest adopted revision of the Canadian Electrical Code.
Boutique and DIY cords are another matter. Not all cords I have here are CSA/UL/CUL listed, but they use CSA/UL/CUL approved components. As for selling a boutique cord with approved components but without having the entire cord tested and listed? Great question. I have no idea.
Cheers,

We have a few of these in our 'open concept' living area. The P.I.A. part of having such a living space is that some of the furniture like the sofas are not next to a wall or a wall mounted AC outlet. In order to place table lamps and such we have a few floor outlets hidden under lamp tables and the sofas.

It's hard to tell, but hopefully you installed a floor box.
An uncovered outlet facing up on the ground is a little iffy, as debris could work its way into the receptacle, posing a potential fire hazard.
Also, floor boxes tend to have big old metal faceplates, so when you step on the thing, it will support your weight. (Or worse, put a chair leg on top of it, imagine what that could do to a plastic outlet!)
About those wiring changes.
had been a while and brings back good memories, thanks

Lower noise floor?
Dust bunnies be damned.
usually those floor outlets are bass and have a rubber seal to protect from moisture. Of course too much water can flood anything, and I believe the sockets do need to be grounded per NEMA and UL regulations.
while working at a restaurant I literally sloshed water all over the floor which had those sockets with no issues.
Put a piece of duct tape over the outlet if you mop the floor. And don't flood the place either.
Do not throw your cigarette butts on the floor. The cockroaches are getting cancer.
...of a place I visited to buy tubes. Disgusting. Everything was yellowed from the smokers in the house.
My friend's comment was "I'll bet even the spiders were coughing".

Better yet, don't let women clean up the audio room. Rarely understood is the synergistic relationship between very dry and respectable old dirt and well being.
I always thought of dust in the room as coming from space, star dust.
makes for a long life.
I'm sorry but that is a poor excuse for dust bunnies.
come hang with me and I'll show you some serious dust bunnies.
Also, congrats on the new power source :)
...how does it sound?
Notice a difference?
Glare after waxing, fuzz when dusty.
Vacuum Treatment a Must.
You will be floored at the difference.
