I am wondering if any fellow ausies have used pack and send for hifi stuff. I bought a pair of beat up looking but good sounding quad esl75's on eBay. The guy didn't have a postage cost but he offered to drop them at pack and send for me.I duly won the auction and he dropped them at P and S. They just rang me with a quote of $500! (Southport to Canberra)
I could get a pair shipped from the UK for that, so I am in a bit of shock, and am considering driving up, or getting a friend to collect.
The high cost is because they estimate them as being a palette load

Sounds about right
I had speakers from Perth to Melb. It was slow expensive but safe
Then a TT from Sydney to Melb. It was quick, expensive and, as it turned out, broken.
If ESLs are prone to damage from ignorant packing, I'd be wary. The packing will be bulky, but it's what they did with the innermost layer that was my problem: basically crushing it in the interests of not having things move around.
interesting- turntables need specialied packing to a degree, I have had a few arrive broken over they years.
As I am buying the esls for parts, we are working on a cheaper method of packing
