Mine is an ancient 18A genuine General Radio one that has probably never been touched. BUT now that you bring it up I just tried turning it from end to end and it isn't turning as smoothly as it used to. But it works fine. Maybe I should see if it would like a drop of oil at either end...
I got it at an estate sale in 1974 from the shop of a late fellow who used to build automatic chicken waterers. I think it was used to control the impact of the bowl forming tool. It was not only old then, but it was packed with dust and grit. I blew it out and have been using it since for the important task of managing my popcorn popper. But it's also handy for routine tasks like easing up stuff that has been off long enough for the electrolytics to partially unform.
