Adjust for any gain difference.

That is what I am trying to avoid. Is there a device I can just push a button like a speaker switch?
Check eBay and parts stores. There are switch boxes from simple to complex to use. You can even use a multispeaker switchboard in reverse. I have on that has inputs for 2 as and 4 sets of speakers.
On mine when I switch from amp a to be, the switch loads amp a down with a 10ohm 20 watts ww resistor so the amp has a load. I used have one with attenuators but the current one does not. I set each amp and speakers spl using a RS spl meter. The spl needs to be at the same level or the test is compromised.
For a number of collectors, they obtain surplus comparator that were used in stores and can switch in additional items such as tuners and even phono. Some have remotes and can be expanded by hanging. Just densest how far you want to go.

that doesn't completely negate the comparison via common grounds.
