You can always cut two pieces, top and bottom, of 1/2" or 3/4" plywood 3" or 4" wide the length of the cabinets and screw them to the studs and then screw the cabinets into the plywood, then you can hang them pretty much where ever you want.

These come with an aluminum panel about 3 inches tall and as long as the cabinet that screws onto the wall (beams). Then you set the cabinet onto the panel (it'll set there without any bolts) then bolt the cabinet onto the panel. The hardware on the cabinet lines up perfectly with the threads on the aluminum panel..

Thanks. I had to look for the beams - I found 5 and am using a couple of heavy duty dry-wall anchors too. They come with an extension that allows them to more easily connect side by side, and a different piece of hardware to facilitate up and downif needed. You can see my 4 ft level in one of the photos - I needed it. The doors are adjustable in all directions for those who insist on everything lining up just perfectly - I have little patience for such fine tuning.
Looks like I can get about 60 CDs per row per cabinet. That's 540 plus whatever I can put on the top shelf in each box. Looks like about 600 CDs inside.
