In Reply to: RE: I am sure you paid for the February issue. posted by Sprezza Tura on January 17, 2015 at 18:22:56
I am paid up. I stopped writing with the December issue. In the St. Nick of time, as it may turn out.
I am asking about non-salaried writers -- my erstwhile colleagues -- who have "contributed" to the January and February issues.
Have they been paid? If not, are there plans to pay them? Maybe the checks are in the mail -- if not from Harrisburg then perhaps Bombay.
Ultimately -- morally, at least -- it is an editor's responsibility to do everything possible to make sure his (or her) writers are being paid for what was published.
The covenant between editors and writers is almost a sacred trust.
I am sure Plato trusted his publisher.

Why else would you be posting about it?
Sam, I'm sorry to hear about the potential strife with your previous employer.
One day I hope to hear the details because I know a lot of people put a lot of trust (even potentially blind trust) in others and that's not always a good thing.
You said, "Ultimately -- morally, at least -- it is an editor's responsibility to do everything possible to make sure his (or her) writers are being paid for what was published."
Since everything and everyone has limits, would it not be more accurate to say,
"Ultimately -- morally, at least -- it is an editor's responsibility to do everything REASONABLY possible to make sure his (or her) writers are being paid for what was published."?
Also, you said, "The covenant between editors and writers is almost a sacred trust."
I'm curious why a covenant of "an almost sacred trust" is necessary between an editor and its writers?
Is this about the change from Source Interlink to TEN?
Google Source Interlink.
Google Source Interlink Bonita Springs, Florida.
Google Source Interlink Time-Warner.
Where did the money go? Where is the money going now?
What money? You mean Stereophile generates any profit?
Ok, so based on the info you have supplied..these then are reasonable questions..
since you are off the hook, why fight others battles?
are you implying that Sphile is impending financial danger?
are you implying that John Atkinson is not doing his job?
spill it..let's get beyond the innuendo.
speaking for my self, I am a fan..been reading your columns for 10 years.
Funny how your world seems to be on the verge of collapse. Maybe you should stop the pathetic pleas and just leave Tellig alone as he is certainly only doing this either out of spite or at the behest of chicken-shit writers who still have skin in the game and wont cross JA. If he is doing this out of spite I hope he really brings out the big guns and lays waste by telling the actual truth. I remain convinced this hobby is better off without Stereophile.
It's also possible that it's neither. I'd say that Sam Tellig is known for being a rascal of sorts.
Could it be that he's posting here purely for the fun involved in doing so?
Remember saying this jd? "Thanks! I promise to be more positive in the future"
You have had multiple opportunities to, in fact, do it. But, sadly, I guess it was a lie ...
"why fight others battles?": truly a time honoured US credo.
In other words: "I'm all right Jack!".
Maybe there is some solidarity in Mr. Gillet, a quality ruthlessly suppressed by the US political bulldozer?
