What do you hope to measure with a square wave test on a speaker? A square wave is not the same as an impulse response.
Follow Ups:
A square wave is not linear at all so using this to test a loudspeaker is pointless not to mention damaging to the voice call.
So good SW response signals nothing ? bad SW response signals nothing ..? what about speakers with no VC to damage ... ?
Yep, a square wave test is useless in speaker testing. You get far more information from an impulse response.
@3db,
Not impulse, Step response .....

Why not?
You can tell a lot about hopefully linear systems using a squarewave and a scope. It has nothing to do with music, it's just a "test signal" that's easy to generate and observe and, IMHO, typically very revealing.
But I can't say that I've ever tried it on speakers and I can see where it would be a lot more ackward than using the technique in the electrical realm.
