Did everybody get their seasonal catalog from Music Direct with the picture of a young Bruce Springsteen on the cover? It's a biggie with over 200 pages packed with all kinds of goodness in there, it kinda reminds me of many years ago when I was a kid Sears would put out their holiday wishbook, I'd pore over the pages and pages of toys for hours on end, great memories...

Someone posted on Audiogon regarding a noticeable lack of loudspeakers. Specifically, that electronics and turntables costing five figures are well represented. Yet, the highest priced loudspeakers offered are $5K Wharfdales with cables costing as much.
The poster questions this because commonly the advice is to budget more for loudspeakers than any other components. So, why are there not more loudspeakers at higher price points here?
It is very well done- vinyl lovers indulge!
Man im glad you posted this........I was wondering who the hell that was.
When I was a wee lad, I wore that thing out...brings back some great memories...
In every toy listing, they gave the dimensions of the box that the toy came in...I took a tape measure to my wrapped gifts under the tree... length, width and height...bang...Monday Night Football, GI Joe with the Kung-Fu Grip, Major Matt Mason Moon Crawler...you get the idea...
My Mother freaked out, or had a bird, as she would say, started to double box all my presents...it was fun when it listed...
Thanks for the memories...Now..."I want to be a Dentist"..."a DENTIST!!??!!" (cool old farts will recognize that line)
Thanks
Mark
Received my copy today!
Speaking of BR reading I'm thinking about renewing my subscriptions to Stereophile (I've been away for more than a decade) and getting my first one to the Absolute Sound.
Give me rhythm or give me death!
If it has been that long since you subscribed, I would pick up a copy at the newstand first, whole form has changed. Small articles, "if you want to know more, just log on and read on line". Not your "father's" mag.
You don't use it for toilet paper do you?
Hi, I got the catalog in a big manilla envelope and it was a surprise. If any one of you dump on the fact of getting such good reading for nothing you should get looked at. I looked at the postage on the envelope and mine was 3 dollars and 5 cents. If you could not afford the Absolute Sound speaker coffie table book at over 100 bucks, this is a gift from heaven, and it's free....never a complaint here...the best freebee I ever get and look forward to getting again! I got Ringo and Garcia on some back issues, the Sears Catalog of HI-FI. Audio Advisor is right up there too...just my thoughts...Mark Korda
Who's complaining? The best thing about audio magazines is and always has been the advertising. Right?
Give me rhythm or give me death!
Definitely fun to pour through. Did it strike anyone else that there were significantly more SACD titles than in previous catelogs?
Loved it. Thats one I just love leafing through!

What's not to like about pictures with captions from a company that it's a pleasure to do business with?
'Course, I still read books on paper, too.

When I was a kid, I pored over that catalog 'most every night. The women's underwear section was softcore porn for a 9 year old...[g]

No, I would say it was hardcore when I was a nine year old. I guess I am older than you are...
Ahhh, I can remember when they didn't airbrush out the nipples. *SIGH* The good old days!!

...I don't know if you've ever ordered any boxes or bags from U-Line, but if you have they send you a catalog like this every couple of months.
Both they and Music Direct are full of things I'll never order.
What a waste of trees.
I've asked both U-Line and Music Direct to stop sending catalogs but they keep coming. A shameful waste.
At least I got LL Bean to stop.

...I called U-Line and they stopped.
buy lots of records if their prices are comparable to other sources but no hardware. I tend to flinch when I see the word "only", next to "$4,999", for a cd player.

I got it yesterday. I like it with the exception of the front cover. I'd rather have the Ringo picture on the inside cover as the front cover.
What a waste of paper.
I requested my copy yesterday- good to know that some of you guys are receiving your copies!
I got mine.
I cut the back cover off and taped it to a "Boss" poster. I took the rest to work with me - I wouldn't want to be over productive or anything.
I agree with you; It's as good as looking at toy race cars when I was 10.

It's a class act all right. Who would have dreamed, back in the last century when people were saying "Records are dead" that in late 2014 a catalog would appear with more than 30 pages devoted to vinyl goodies?
...I didn't even open it.
nothing is more boring than the truth - bukowski
and Yasser Arafat on the inside cover?
