...it will be worth it and something he'll always remember you for.

...is that he won't consider it dinosaur rock compared to whatever he's musically into at the moment. I doubt it's going to be an issue, but the concern did cross my mind.
I didn't have time to hesitate though. The Ticketmaster site gave me a two minute reserve on floor seats in row S. I clicked another tab, thinking they might have something cheaper, and they were already up to row V when I looked again, so I jumped on those. They're selling fast.
I'm pretty confident that he'll enjoy himself. Isn't it amazing that Rock music has held its ground? If one of my uncles forty-five years my senior had taken me to a concert when I was fifteen (the grand-nephew's age) I'd be listening to Guy Lombardo or something, rolling my eyes, and wishing I was dead.
"Long Live Rock" indeed.
...I took my then 15 year old daughter who loves music and grew up on the Beatles, Beach Boys and classic rock to see Steve Winwood about 9 years ago.
When he played "Gimme Some Lovin" from 1966 and said it was 40 years old, I asked her if she thought any of the music she listens to will be around in 40 years.
She said no way - the groups don't stay together very long any more and the music is more throw-away in the moment than timeless.
I've taken her to see Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones and she's loved every minute.
You, sir, have one lucky daughter!
I agree that much of the older Rock qualifies as "Timeless". I was excited when Nirvana came along, because I was finally hearing new music which I connected with, and really moved me on various levels. Sadly, that ended all too quickly, and a long time ago.
There's still good music being made, but you have to work to seek it out, and there's a lot of chaff to sort through for the occasional grain of wheat. In the 1960s and early 1970s, it seemed great music was simply everywhere .
