That FleaBay users continue to accept their unlawful policy of requiring that all purchases be made using PayPal. "Unlawful" you say, how so? Well, all you need do is take a $1 bill out of your wallet and inspect the verbiage printed thereon: "This note is legal tender for all debts public and private."
For FleaBay to disallow the use of cash payments in favor of forcing users to use PayPal directly contravenes federal law. Why no one has taken them to task for this is beyond me....

It would probably never occur to anyone to accept cash, because nobody would be dumb enough to pay using cash. Checks, debit and credit cards, cashier's checks, money orders, wire transfers, sure. But even if a seller accepted all of those methods of payment, wouldn't they still be in violation of your supposed law?
Who in the world would actually want to put currency in an envelope and send it through the mail or a courier service to pay for an online purchase?
But the exclusion of the cash option contravenes federal law. Obviously, it would kinda dumb to stuff bills in an envelope, but that option *should* be available, even if not recommended...
Finally, local businesses that will not accept cash really frosts my cookies. Go to a FedEx/UPS location and try to ship something by paying cash - you will be rebuffed. That just plain sucks...

Don't know where you ship from, but I GLADLY accept cash for all packages leaving my Pack & Ship center - FedEx, or UPS. :)
Federal currency is valid for "all debts public and private" but there is no law stating that a merchant must deal in cash. Actually, there is no law stating that a merchant must accept credit cards, checks, or money orders for payment either as far as I know. It's up to the individual. All of the above forms of payment are considered legal and we also have the option of choosing which form(s) to use. Some merchants don't like to handle cash at all, for convenience sake or even for safety reasons. Funds that can be verified and processed electronically are in some ways more secure than cash payments are, especially when counterfeiting becomes more common and more sophisticated (as it has become in recent years).
I usually prefer cash or checks to electronic payments but I'm also quite a luddite in some ways.

Ask about payment options. Many sellers on ebay have their own "store" with items and prices identical to those shown on ebay. However, going through their store website provides you with the option of choosing a wide variety of credit cards for payment, Peepal not required.

A few years ago I was buying some building materials and I noticed a sign that said "No Cash".
I was paying with a check anyway but when I got home I looked it up and it turns out the Feds can not and do not force a retailer to take cash.
Seems "un-American" to me.

Don't know about your neck of the woods, but neither the DMV here, nor the one where I came from accept any cash payments.
When it comes to technology.
Also, using your market dominance in online bidding to take over the online payment business is a textbook example of monopoly power.
And what happened about that?
Nothing.
