Hi all:I have a Yamaha receiver RX-V665 that I use for a small home theater setup in a bedroom. Previously, the power would sometimes turn off at higher volumes, particularly while watching DVD's. I could then immediately turn it back on. I seemed to have solved that problem by re-wiring all the speakers and eliminating a lot of unnecessary speaker cable. Worked well for a few months. Then one day... the same thing happened a few times, rapidly turning itself back off after I would turn it back on. This happened 3-5 times. The last time it happened, efforts to resuscitate failed and the receiver seems to have passed on to the junkyard in the sky. Any thoughts on resurrection strategies?
Also, I tried to edit the misspelling in the subject line but I couldn't figure out how to delete the previous message. Sorry. Newby mistake.

the symptoms sound like a circuit protect to me too.
Sounds like a protection circuit is kicking in. What speakers do you have and how are they connected?

I think that it was likely, almost positively, a circuit protect issue, at least when the troubles began. It would shut off but would allow me to power back up. After I re-wired all the speakers and eliminated lots of excess run of speaker cable, it seemed to work like a charm again. I made no changes whatsoever, after those described, when this occurred a few months down the road.
I have B&W DM 602 Series 2 speakers on the front, bi-amped. I have a Klipsch (not a particularly nice one) sub hooked up via a line-in connection with matching Klipsch bookshelf speakers for surround and center channels. All of these, except for the sub, have 14 guage speaker cable. There are also two really shitty speakers I have set up for "front affect" surround. They are small, massed produced items that were just sitting around in my parents' house.
I just don't know what to do in an effort to revive the thing since it will no longer allow me to turn it back on. This is not a main or expensive system or anything so I realize it may well not be worth much to perform the resurrection but, if possible, I would like to do so. It has (had) been a nice little receiver.
