No way connected to this seller, but I thought his add provided some lessons for us.
Follow Ups:
My wife thought the seller was an absolute jerk, but some here think the wife was the unreasonable one.
... that the guy was just trying to get people's attention by talking like that. His wife was probably looking over his shoulder as he wrote up the listing, laughing and slapping him upside the head.
Wow seems like a pretty good concept for a reality teevee show!
Much ado about nothing, but judging by the reactions here such a concept would be a winner for sure.
If I had to throw away my stereo for my family, I'd do so and not look back.
Listening to a stereo system is entertainment and a luxury. It isn't life.
Having said that, my wife and I share a common interest in the stereo, so we're not likely to do that (or she's smack me! :-) ).

"If I had to throw away my stereo for my family, I'd do so and not look back".
Why would such a situation ever come up?
A little dramatic; Don't ya think?

It's worth it.
This clown should politely ask his wife for his nuts back and then go find a good lawyer.

an accord mutually acceptable is one strange guy.
And a wife who can't let a guy enjoy a few toys is not a wife I would want.

usually are symptoms of other deeper problems?
At any rate, whining about one's wife on a public forum?
C'mon!
True enough.

The biggest lie in the ad is the $40K "investment." White van speakers, anyone?
Hey, maybe he's just using that excuse because we can all relate. But why do women get to run our lives? Because we let them, and social conditioning. Screw her! Dump her ass and get a better woman. No woman is special, there's a million of 'em.
They all have the golden triangle and men are stupid enough to pay for it!
I'm a cynical person and this ad pegs my bullshit meter.
Cheers,

that ultimately our goal needs to be to fit into this world (and especially our marriage). It is fun to have this hobby, and we may know that we are right...but we may sometimes go too far in our passion..
wifey is more the videophile in our household who cranks the HT. :)
he better be careful what color vehicle he chooses too.
Personally, the lesson I learned from that is the guy is pathetic and needs to grow up.

It sure did.
How not to sell audio equipment.
The type of guy who denigrates his wife in an advertisement is not the type of person I'd be interested in doing business with.

Wow!
Pretty selfish on his wife's part.My wife and I watch movies often.....In the same room.........sitting next to each other..........we even speak to one another........
Obviously his wife doesn't enjoy a movie via a high end home theater.
It could be worse; He could be watching Tiffany and Bambi at the brass pole ballet.........
I don't know what makes him think she is going to be any happier with a Harley or a Chevelle. Maybe scrap booking is his only real option.
I suspect the reason given for the sale is a thinly veiled attempt to cover the fact HE HAS LOST INTEREST in his home theater.

Short of a investing in a killer headphone system, nothing resembling a traditional hifi system is going to satisfy his wife's desire to monitor and control the use of his time and money as she sees fit.If he's thinking about a new recreational vehicle it's for one of two reasons: He's caving in to her demands for him to spend more time with her while he's enjoying himself, or he's caving in to his desire to drive his new toy around alone while she stays at home.
Either way it's OK, I wish him all the best...

Well, if he gets a muscle car or Harley out of the deal, he's probably going to be out in the garage a lot- I doubt she'll be out there as much as in the house!!! She may still complain, but I think she'll spend more time in the house! LOL...
Personally, if D-wife was like this guy's wife, I would never have married her, much less even dated her! That was part of the process for the growth of our relationship- she actually LIKES music and HT. We met while I was playing bass guitar in her brother's band (doesn't get anymore intrusive to a home environment than LIVE music!).

Husbands and wives should meet in the bedroom - the less they know about each other, the better. Knowledge is for business relationships and schooltime.
D-wife and I are content, both being musicians... A special breed, perhaps? The things we DO argue about are trivial (conductors, orchestras, musicians in general, etc...), and the things we discuss (that matter) lead to solutions.
YMMV...

Hoo-hoo! Oh, what fun...
Not sure about the WAF of a Harley or muscle car, in his situation.
No carpets or Wall Hangings, one Large Speaker next to side wall, the other further out in the Room, uneven.
What does she complain about?
I'm betting Volume/too overbearing.
Forget the wife stuff, might have been a ill advised attempt at humor or whatever. Bottom line, the room sucks! No wonder he's selling.
I'd probably bitch, too.
