My Teac reel to reel purchased 1972 still works, although most Scotch 150 tapes do not. I have dozen or so Salzburg tapes taken fro WKCR lagte night live broadcasts that still sound impressive. Did not save them in time...including many performances of the Tatrai Quartet broadcasted from London, Budapest and Berlin
A real loss
They made good reel to reel machines and charged a third of what Tandberg did at the time
Follow Ups:
the one with the lever to operate the transport was waaaay more reliable than the newer electronically controlled transport.

They were magnificent reel to reel players..At the time I did not have the money. They were also elegant and beautiful. I still have their integrated amp!(1992). The magnificent tuner has gone out and cannot find anyone who can fix it, Teac was a second choice...
...a Tandberg 3016A power amp. It may be a boat anchor when it finally dies, but I certainly have no interest in replacing it until then.
