And, when you do attend live classical music performances, you see a predominately OLD audience.

I knew something was amiss when I suggested to a younger person to have some clarinet music in a list of recordings to evaluate speakers and was met with a look someone would give an alien from outer space the other week.
And when the blue hairs die off you won't see anyone there.
Actually, just yesterday, I attended a performance of the SF Symphony Orchestra at Davies Hall of Tchaikovsky's 5th as well as a modern piece, Brant's "Ice Field". The age of the audience ranged from 20 somethings to beyond, but clearly the "blue hairs" were a minority. There is hope!!And, I must add, returning home and listening to a SACD of the SF Symphony Orchestra, I was rewarded with sound that was almost equally enjoyable.
