The reality (and tragedy) of the younger generations is that they have little interest in classical music. If you attend live symphonic performances, you are more likely to appreciate and demand quality in your reproduced music. Junk music is good enough on junk equipment.

True.
I can assure you that the music heard in the linked video (there's no video - just an offensive artwork), sounds MUCH better on my system, which in retail prices costs somewhere between 25 and 30 grand, than on "junk equipment", or in the car.
Band - Prostitute Disfigurement
Album - From Crotch to Crown
Track - Dismember the Transgender
And, when you do attend live classical music performances, you see a predominately OLD audience.
I knew something was amiss when I suggested to a younger person to have some clarinet music in a list of recordings to evaluate speakers and was met with a look someone would give an alien from outer space the other week.
And when the blue hairs die off you won't see anyone there.
Actually, just yesterday, I attended a performance of the SF Symphony Orchestra at Davies Hall of Tchaikovsky's 5th as well as a modern piece, Brant's "Ice Field". The age of the audience ranged from 20 somethings to beyond, but clearly the "blue hairs" were a minority. There is hope!!And, I must add, returning home and listening to a SACD of the SF Symphony Orchestra, I was rewarded with sound that was almost equally enjoyable.

Classical and jazz comprise just 2% of today's U.S. music sales!More like crappy artists everywhere are undermining music sales. Nowadays, for every good band there are like a 1,000 lousy ones. Every joker with a microphone now thinks they can perform as long as they have $100 software to change their voice to something "Fresh" sounding. Most bands now don't even have guitar players. All DJ samples and over dubs full of garbage.

That's the reason high end is on life support.
Very true statement.
