Bonfire.........
I was once a sucker for these rags, and now think they're totally useless.....
In retrospect, the only good audio magazine was "Audio"......
Follow Ups:
compost...When I went in the service my mom tossed all my EC comics collection, all of it...EC comics were the best..

I had hundreds and hundreds
Looking back to the mid to late 1980s:
On a personal value for money spent basis, I'm going to have to agree that "Audio" was the top of the heap.
Stereo Review didn't often feature equipment I was interested in.
TAS had some really awesome writing, reviewed quite a bit of esoteric equipment (sure didn't have any Mapleknoll dealers in my area), but their cover price was far and away the highest.
Stereophile was at least a couple bucks cheaper at the news stand, reviewed a great deal of interesting gear, and some of their writing made for an interesting read. Dick Olsher had some great pieces, and Sam Tellig was probably in his prime. Hence, I subscribed & kept a subscription for 20+ years.
Audio? Their writing wasn't always as interesting as Stereophile, and pretty much never reached the levels sometimes shown in TAS. They DID have some awesome multi-issue articles (such as the Live end/Dead end feature), and they had some fascinating comparisons (IRS vs Diva vs whatever the biggest Duntech was) plus, the vast information presented in their annual equipment buyers guide has never been replicated by any other magazine. Their cover price was very reasonable, and subscriptions could be had at a pittance. Hence? I carried an Audio subscription until they died.
I have several years of Audio magazine free for shipping costs if anyone wants them. I'd say about 2-3 years worth, mostly 1994-1996 or so, with a couple Annual Directories thrown in and some other one-off audio mags. Feel free to email if any interest.
